Dirt Didn’t Pay Off for the Wolverines

ABC News On Campus reporter Brittny Krause blogs: How far will a team go to achieve a sense of "home team advantage?" For the Michigan Wolverine softball team, one of eight teams competing in the Women's College World Series, it’s as easy as throwing a pile of dirt from their home field into a bag and bringing it to Oklahoma City.As one Michigan parent said, “It’s a way for our girls to feel like they have a piece of home with them." The Wolverines won every one of their home games this season, so bringing dirt from Ann Arbor and pouring it onto the field made them feel right at home. Before Michigan took on Florida Friday night, one Wolverine fan said, “We still have to play the game to win. Bringing the dirt is just something fun our team wanted to do.” Unfortunately for the Wolverines, it didn't pay off. Top-ranked Florida beat Michigan Friday night, 1-0.

Bring DIRT along…..now that has a double meaning. There’s a lot more of it swept under the rug on Kipike.
