Maybe it’s the unseasonably warm weather in much of the country, or call it a case of early-spring fever, but golf is on the minds of many when the weather starts to warm. Luckily, the travel industry is on the same page and several resorts have recently announced they will offer unlimited golf to guests. For those serious about the game, these unlimited golf packages help keep costs in check.
Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, Scottsdale, Arizona
Available only until April 30, the package at the four-star Fairmont Scottsdale Princess includes unlimited golf at the TPC Scottsdale, transportation to and from the course and practice balls prior to the first round of play. Rooms are priced from $499 per night for single occupancy and $599 for double occupancy. TPC Scottsdale has two championship courses – Stadium Course, designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf and the newly renovated Champions Course, crafted by Randy Heckenkemper.
Amelia Island Plantation, Amelia Island, Florida
Amelia Island Plantation’s unlimited golf package, priced from $299 per night, includes accommodations, unlimited greens fees and cart use on Oak Marsh and Ocean Links including day of arrival and departure play; bag storage and ball mark tool and driving range and practice balls prior to play. The offer includes the Pete Dye and Bobby Weed-designed golf courses.
The Grand Del Mar, San Diego
Now through June 28, the five-star Grand Del Mar offers unlimited play for two on San Diego’s only Tom Fazio-designed golf course. Unlimited golf is available from 2 p.m. on check-in day to noon on check-out day. Tee times are subject to weather conditions and availability at time of reservation. Sunday through Thursday rates are from $425 per night; Friday through Saturday rates from $525 per night.
Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, Orlando
The Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek offers a day of unlimited golf for every night you stay. They even throw in a $20 resort credit per person. Golf is played on the Rees Jones-designed championship golf course at the adjacent Waldorf Astoria Orlando. A check on rates by ABCNews.com showed the first weekend in April from $399 per night.
As a place that synonymous with golf, it’s not surprising there are plenty of packages to pick from in Pinehurst. Four different choices of accommodations means a range of price points. There are additional perks for those who book mid-week or off-peak weekends. The most comprehensive (read: expensive) package is the “Buddy Trip of a Lifetime” package, priced from $2,300 per person. It includes a three-night stay in luxury villa accommodations, stocked wet bar, breakfast and dinner daily, unlimited golf, private session with a Pinehurst pro, a round of golf with caddies wearing your name on their bib, an Acura courtesy car, a steak and lobster dinner cooked by a private chef in your villa, and more.
