Luckily I was already deeply in love by the time I heard down syndrome when my only child was 14 days old. I too grieved but not from the inability to bond with him, more that I feared the unknown. Now at 6 yrs old, he is the joy and amazement of my life. I wish I could say I had never shed one tear but in looking back now I just didn't know how beautiful this life would really be.
