Dad Creates Time-Lapse Video Showing Mom What Really Happens While She’s Away
When Mommy is away, Dad and son will play.
And if your dad works in the video production business, that playtime gets filmed, turned into a time-lapse video and instantly goes viral.
Emio Tomeoni, 30, of Kansas City, Mo., works odd hours and often finds himself at home during the day with his 21-month-old son, Xavier. He would always tell his wife, Stephanie Ramos, 31, about the adventures he’d had with his son that day, but really wanted her to see it rather than just hear about it.
“We both have perfect jobs, but our hours are completely upside down,” Tomeoni told ABCNews.com. “She’s night side, I work regular hours. Her off days are weird. We’re making all these adjustments. We didn’t have a solid day care yet, so I’m taking weird days off and I end up at home with our son in the daytime a lot. And it’s great.
“Me and him alone, progressively, I got obsessed with getting him toys,” he said. “So I kept telling her how our days went, saying, ‘This place was a wreck, a disaster. We played all day.’ And then she’d walk in and it would be spotless.”
Tomeoni knew his wife would come home stressed after a long day at work. Therefore, he would always do his best to have the house cleaned so it would be comfortable for her by the time she got there.
However, the house would be so clean that his stories about all their elaborate playtime in the living room were hard to believe. So, he decided, “I’m just going to stick a camera in the corner one day and just film the process.”
The video not only resonated with his wife, but thousands of people on the Internet, also. Since it was originally posted on Dec. 23, it has already surpassed 10,000 views on YouTube.
“I do a lot of videos for my wife. She loves them. They’re a little personal glimpse into our life. I wanted to show her something to make her smile,” Tomeoni said.
Never in a million years did Tomeoni think he’d gain this much recognition – some viewers even called him “father of the year” – for a simple video he created of a fun afternoon with his son.
“It was really odd. I looked at it when I was done with it, and my thought was, ‘My wife is going to love this – mainly because the house was clean at the end of the day and I changed his diaper.’ That was my initial thought,” said Tomeoni. “But after I got some random feedback, it seemed like it could be big.”
Tomeoni thinks the video has gotten so much attention because it’s truly universal. No words are necessary, and everyone can understand a father’s love for his son.
“All you ever want to do is show people who you really are. You can’t do that with words. You can’t tell people who you are. You have to show them. And it takes time,” Tomeoni said. “I wanted to show my wife what she already knows, but now she’s seen.”

This is fantastic. That little boy will grow up to be a well-adjusted, genius of a man. Bravo to the dada for being such a fun, creative and brilliant role model.

What a nice happy family! So many women are stuck being single mothers.
I myself was raised by a single mother who was constantly trying to get the minimal basic from my dad which was a small monthly fee of child support. Looking after me and spending time with me was out of the question for him.
Glad to see a dad pulling his own weight and actually being hands on with his own children.

This man deserves the father of the year award! That little boy is lucky to have him!

Wow, not once was the TV turned on and the father was CONSTANTLY giving the child attention and involved in play. I am jealous. I am a SAHM and I don’t know how to go go go go go .

Nice, but I’m not that impressed. It’s EASY to be very involved when you only have 1 kid (yet, so many people can’t handle it). Let’s see how he does with 2 or 3.

Wow. We plays with his kid for 2 hours. Why should we be impressed by this? Don’t we expect our fathers to be involved in their children’s lives? And what if there wasn’t a camera in front of him? Is he that involved when he’s not being taped. Cute, but not impressed. And love the gratuitous shirtless moment. Who ya trying to impress, big guy? GMA or the Today Show?

WOW! Busy day!

Clearly, madam, you do not understand Man-Code. The code states that when one or more men are alone in the house, you remove clothing until only shorts remain. Camera or no camera. It’s the law.

Watch the clock, 3 hours or so. But still time spent with the child so it was nice. Second or third child usually does not get the attention the first one does.

Wonderful video. It brings back happy memories of my children, now grown, at that age. The only way to watch a child that young and enjoy it it to get on their level, play with the toys with them, enjoy their small moments of triumph or else the time goes by very slowly.

…and the television was not turned on even once. Bravo, man. Bravo.

If you watch the clock on the wall only 2 hours went by, if that makes him father of the year then I must be father of the century. My wife and I had simular job shifts and I would all night and then take care of my baby daughter all day, about 10 hours till my wife got home, so I could get a few hours sleep.

Wow. I can’t believe some of you people. Clearly this is a dad that enjoys being with and spends quality time with his son, and vice-versa. I think it was very sweet of him to do this for his wife, and as a mother who also works weird hours, I can appreciate the love shown between the two. YES, dads are SUPPOSED to spend time with their children; all parents should, but not all do, and MUCH too many DON’T. I applaud him, and no he doesn’t deserve ab award, but I doubt he’s looking for one. Calm down people.

What fun they are having. The imagination to do a time lapse video is delightful. A wonderful record of growing up for the little boy. I am sure the mom found it very fun and comforting. The father may not do it all the time but the freedom and intimacy of his interaction with his child cannot be staged. Thank you for sharing this day with your world.

We need more dads like this!

Ok….not to be picky, but I would be a little frustrated with the fact that dad has taught the little boy to climb and stand on the table….he can fall off of that and get hurt. Other than that, it looks like they had fun.

The clip actually spans less than 2 hours. He probably spent 6 hours watching and cutting the clips while the kid was locked in a closet:)

The Dad has the right idea, they(children) are only kids once, enjoy them every chance you get. I dont think the dad caught him to climb, kids learn on their own, I know mine did.

I am glad to see a Father take time with his child. They are both lucky… My two babies 28 mo and 11 mo get to have their Dad from sun up until he goes to work @ 3pm every day. This time of exploration with them is one that will never come again. To see them fall short, then progres to understanding… It’s amazing.
