Starbucks is expanding its menu beyond the regular cup of coffee and snacks. The chain has rolled out an "evenings" menu around the country featuring wine, beer and appetizer options.

Available after 4 p.m., the "Starbucks Evenings" drink menu includes wines like malbec, prosecco and pinot grigio. Starbucks innovation director Rachel Antalek chose the regional wines.

The menu includes items like warmed rosemary and brown sugar cashews, bacon-wrapped dates, truffle macaroni and cheese and chocolate fondue. Prices range from $3.45 to $6.95 per item.

Sixteen stores serving the menu are in the areas of Seattle, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore. The menu will not be extended to all stores. The Herald Square location in New York City offers wine but does not offer the full evening menu. A full list of locations can be viewed here.

"Wine and beer offerings have also been tested in select stores in Japan and are currently being tested in Spain on a limited basis," said a Starbucks company spokeswoman.

The regular menu is still available after 4 p.m. The evening menu is just an additional feature.

"We seek to create a new occasion for customers to relax and connect with friends in the evening," the spokeswoman said. "We have received very positive feedback from customers in our stores that currently offer the Evenings menu."

The company is in the process of getting liquor licenses for other locations.
