Aston Martin Makes Pricey, Limited-Edition Baby Stroller

Move over, Bugaboo. Step aside, UPPAbaby.

Harrods, the famed British department store, is offering what's being billed as the ultimate in baby transportation: a stroller from British sports car-maker Aston Martin.

Fans of the James Bond film franchise might recall that the super spy often drives an Aston Martin that's kitted out with some high-tech extras. The stroller, which retails for about $3,000, is made by Aston Martin in partnership with Silver Cross, a British company that specialized in carriages, high chairs and other baby goods.

Dubbed the Silver Cross Surf, Aston Martin Edition, this luxury buggy is perfect for the Bond baby set. The carriage has a winter footmuff with windproof performance fabrics, detachable baby carrier, sun shade and rain shield, and a folding, detachable shopping basket, according to details on Harrods website. It is finished with Italian suede.

"The handle bar… is made of fine Italian leather," said Jonathan Halsall, commercial manager for Silver Cross. "It's the same leather that's used in the Aston Martin steering wheel."

The stroller is built on a precision-engineered chassis and is "the world's most outstanding contemporary baby travel system," according to the Harrods website.

The carriage is a limited edition and only 800 units will be made available.

"Parents are willing to pay top dollar for their stroller because they know they are getting the best stroller for their baby," said Megan Keran of the baby store chain, giggle.
