Pregnancy… It Was A Real KICK!

There were plenty of not best parts of pregnancy… weight gain, back pain, a wider turn ratio…

But there was one part I LOVED… Feeling the baby move.

Is that weird?

I mean, that’s weird, right?

But… There is something so very magical about feeling the baby move about in one’s womb. Such an amazing and wonderful feeling… those kicks and stretches. And oh my goodness the hiccups!

To me, being able to feel my babies move and thrive was the utmost privilege and something I marveled at every time. I also may have been moved to say “ouch” at time or two as well. I had some busy babies livin’ in my bellee!

Feeling my babies move reminded me of the miracle I got to play a key role in… the miracle of development… the miracle of life.

There were the times where the babies (3 pregnancies, not triplets) would move when they heard their daddy’s voice… and to bring it full circle… in their first hours after birth watching them turn their heads and stop crying in recognition to his voice.

So awesome. The thought leaves me in awe.

Honestly, I am at a spot in my life where I am completely content that we are “done”. But there are occasions that make my heart feel a little ache that we are done having babies. One of the heart-ache triggers is realizing I will never experience my kids like that again… so safe, just us… in my womb… the closest our bodies ever were.

Excuse me. I need a tissue… *sniff*…

Then I pull out from that spot and look into the eyes of my children… their 6, 9 and 12 year old eyes. We talk. And laugh. And I see that in each season of motherhood we have those irreplaceable moments of deep connection and joy. In this season with my “big kids” I see there are so many incredible things to discover with them today… just like in our beginnings. My children leave me in awe at some point every. Single. Day.
