Three Pregnancy Tips

Has anyone ever given you some amazing advice? You know the kind of advice that you simply must share with everyone you know?

Having gone through multiple pregnancies now, I feel like I’ve learned quiet a few hints and tips for those first time pregger pants out there.

I love to talk way too much about what kind of maternity clothes are best, how to buckle in car seats, what baby gear you’ll need and the stuff not to waste your money on. I can’t help it. I’ve been in baby mode for 6 years straight.

I think my husband checks out every time I expand on my appreciation for Bumbos, Tums and Nuk Binkies. He just doesn’t understand.

Today I’m teaming up with ABC News and the UN Foundation’s  Million Moms Challenge to talk about things that every pregnant woman should know.

I have 3 things that I recommend above all to anyone pregnant.

#1. Get the epidural. For the love! GET THE EPIDURAL! OK, now I know not everyone agrees on this point, but for me it was the BEST choice. I wouldn’t get a root canal without drugs so I sure as heck didn’t want to have a baby without an epidural!

With my second pregnancy the epidural wore off and it was so bad. Unfortunately, because of the pain, everything about that delivery is a blur to me. I don’t remember most of it and didn’t get to enjoy it at all.

#2. My first 3 pregnancies left me curled up on the bathroom floor 95% of the time. Luckily now they have miracle nausea drugs that will rock your world. Get them. Use them. Love them. (Am I allowed to push drugs on a public forum like this? Cause I am.)

#3. I read it takes a woman’s body 2 years to recover from child birth. Ladies…you take those 2 years and milk it all you can! Sometimes if the laundry needs to be changed or if garbage needs to be taken out I simply remind my husband that I just had a baby…even if said baby is 20 months old. I’m still recovering. I read this info online. It must be true.

I could go on and on…and on, but I want to know what you think. Answer the question “what was the best or most difficult part of your pregnancy,” and  by replying you will be entered to win an exclusive Million Moms Challenge Gift Pack, which includes an all expenses paid trip to a conference on mothers hosted by the UN Foundation in DC (Jan/Feb 2012), an iPad2, a custom-made Million Moms Challenge pendant and $50 donation in your name to Global Giving.
