Looking At The Smallest Little Person I’ve Ever Seen.

My first pregnancy was a little on the complicated side.  Not only was I having twins but I was having twins that had a problem called twin to twin transfusion syndrome.  It’s a long story but basically it meant that I was on partial bedrest from 19 weeks on.  It also meant that we had many many ultrasounds and doctors visits.  The story of their birth is one that I definitely see God’s hand in and to this day firmly believe that we would only have one twin if he had not intervened.

This isn’t a birth story though, but a story of the moment I first held those two precious girls.  I think for all mom’s putting into words what you are thinking about when you look at your first child is very difficult, but I’ll try. They were both so tiny, one weight 4 lb 12 oz and the other 3 lb 1 oz.  I remember looking at both of them and crying, a lot.  I was actually pretty much a basket case.   I was so thankful for everything that had happened and that we had two sweet babies, but I was also looking at one baby with a feeding tube down her nose and lying in an incubator.  I was amazed at their creation, the smallest little noses and hands. That everything was there and perfect, just little.  I also remember spending those first moments just staring in their eyes and wondering what in the world they were thinking!

Childbirth is such an incredible moment, and I’d love to know what went through your mind when you held your baby for the first time?
