Holding My Son for the First Time…

2 weeks ago I shared the  most difficult moment in my pregnancy. For me, I suffered through severe gallbladder attacks that were so painful, I would rather go through giving birth a dozen times before I would have another one.

With Hayden, I had low amniotic fluid so I had to be induced three weeks early. After being in labor for over 16 hours and my epidural wearing off, Hayden was finally here. I remember falling back on the bed exhausted and they took Hayden right away to be cleaned. It was a few minutes before they put him on my chest and I remember my husband had to tell me that he was there and to look down!

It’s hard to describe that moment in words.  It’s incredible to see this tiny human being that you know is half you. When I held my son for the first time a dozen thoughts ran through my head, ranging from “ He’s perfection” to “ Is he doing okay” to “ I’m exhausted!”

The range of emotions I went through were exhilaration, worrying, peace, happiness….I could go on and on! I’ll just remember that it was one of the happiest moments of my life.

Childbirth is such an incredible moment, and I’d love to know what went through your mind when you held your baby for the first time?
