SECOND ACTS

You might know comedian/actor Shelley Berman from his role as Larry David’s adorable, glaucoma-addled father on HBO’s "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

You might know him as a cranky judge on ABC’s "Boston Legal."

But what you may not know is how influential Berman was to the world of comedy back in the 1950s and 60s….or the tragic story of his downfall in 1963. (Followed by his rebirth in 2001)….

We told his tale last night on NIGHTLINE. You can watch it online BY CLICKING HERE.

(Incidentally, if you missed the Nightline segment I did making enchilladas with the White House chef fired by Laura Bush, it can be viewed BY CLICKING HERE.)

An absolutely first-rate interview with Mr. Berman! You’ve captured his spirit and his wonderful sense of humor very well. Although Mr. Berman may not have mentioned it, the Compass Players eventually became the Second City comedy troupe (proud originator of many “Saturday Night Live” regulars), and two famous Compass Players whom he probably knew were Elaine May and Mike Nichols.
I especially enjoyed the clip of his from “Grey’s Anatomy,” where his superb acting revealed all you ever needed to know about him. Great job!
