Al-Maliki no Likee
Lots of conflict bubbling up past the surface in Bush-Maliki presser today. Their one big point of agreement — "Operation Forward Together" does not seem to be working to improve security in Iraq. Indeed, according to the spokesman for the US Multi National Forces in Iraq, serious violence is up 40% in the capital city.
Big issues between Bush and the prime minister upon whose fledgling republican Bush has staked his presidency — whether or not the Iraqis should grant amnesty to insurgents who have attacked US troops…and whether US troops that have commited crimes against Iraqis should be tried by Iraqis…
Whew.
For lighter fare, please enjoy this Good Morning America look (for VIDEO CLICK HERE ) on Rep. Bob Wexler’s visit to the Colbert Report…
And tonight on Nightline…when liberal progressivism confronts traditional NIMBYism….the fight to keep a cannibus club out of Fisherman’s Wharf. DOT-COM VERSION IS HERE.

Obama Backs Off Birth Control Battle?
I really appreciate the sincerity and matter-of-factness by which you report in your first paragraph that the President and the Iraqi Prime Minister both agree that “…’Operation Forward Together’ does not seem to be working to improve security in Iraq.” Really? I wonder how they arrived at THAT conclusion, especially since it’s been so apparent to so many for so long. Both men are finally getting a firm grasp of the obvious. Let’s hope they continue on their road to enlightenment!

Where do they get these names, “Forward Together?” Sounds like the Girl Scouts promise…

Nice comment on Colbert, Jake. You have a reputation damaging haircut.

After watching that, my vote is for Colbert for President.
A funnier, lighter White House – with prostitutes and cocaine. To quote Homer Simpson, “Egg-salad.”

I have been amazed at how moronic all of the networks have been in regards to the Colbert interview with Wexler. If anything, the mainstream media is the one that painted this “fun” interview as bad. Your report did just that… the lead-in was worse.
I was obvious by wathing the “whole” interview that Mr. Wexler was playing along and you would hope by now the rest of you in the media would get what’s going on. Mr. Wexler was in on the joke, but as it turns out, the media was not. Very sad if you ask me.
