QUOTABLE

"F*****g Jews… The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."

MEL GIBSON

"A drunken man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts."

ANONYMOUS

"If Mr. Lieberman had once stood up and taken the lead in saying that there were some places a president had no right to take his country even during a time of war, neither he nor this page would be where we are today. But by suggesting that there is no principled space for that kind of opposition, he has forfeited his role as a conscience of his party, and has forfeited our support."

THE NEW YORK TIMES EDITORIAL BOARD

"If you were to hang out with me here it won’t be five or 10 minutes before you see a Republican hug me."

MICHAEL MOORE

Journalists "want to draw attention away from the corrosive role their coverage has played focusing attention on process and not substance."

KARL ROVE

Most of your quotations today are filled with delicious–and not-so-delicious–irony:
You could’ve also used the maxim “In vino veritas” for Mr. Gibson’s anti-Semitic ranting. Ironic, isn’t it, that the man who made so much money from “The Passion of the Christ” holds such abhorrent opinions about Jews.
The NYT is correct, of course, and Lieberman deserves to be trounced in the primary. Ironic, isn’t it, that Lieberman brooks no criticism of his position about the war in Iraq, but is ready to freely criticize others.
The supreme, ne-plus-ultra irony is that quote from that partisan hypocrite, Karl Rove, who has helped so corrode American politics by smear campaigns full of innuendo (Sens. McCain and Kerry, would you like to speak now?), by discussing “character” and not issues, and by emphasizing divisiveness. Ironic, isn’t it, that he blames the media for “focusing attention on process and not substance,” when the campaigns he’s run have been the very model of that. He’s much like the arsonist who starts a conflagration then blames the person who calls the fire department. He’s simply trying to draw attention away from himself by blaming others!

The NYT Lamont endorsement was well-written and more than a bit surprising. Lieberman is deluding himself if he believes that his troubles are just about Iraq. He has provided cover for the Administration on issues concerning which there should have Democratic unity from the outset. Time’s up, Joe.

dont blame the jews mel,its fanatically organized intolerant religions in general that are to blame for all the wars. what is needed is a total 100% worldwide ban on ANY AND ALL religions that IN ANY WAY OR SHAPE OR FORM espouse hatred, bigotry, sectarianism etc…0 TOLERANCE FOR RELIGIOUS FREAKS WHO WANT TO KILL AND SPREAD HATE IN THE NAME OF THEIR GOD.
we(usa) try to adhere to that credo in as far as we constantly are trying to police the world on our terms anyway, but mostly just to countrys or political regimes we dont like such as libya or n korea BUT not religions directly.cut off the head first…religions are(and have been for way way too long) poisoning young minds with with intolerance and hate,THATS THE WHOLE PROBLEM!!
the only religion needed is the truth.
democrats/republicans = all crooks…’nuff said there.and who is this karl rove fellow anyway?LOSER!drum him and his ilk out of politics, hes a sorry excuse for an ” infidel vizer”.actually his vociferous pontifications are pretty akin to the almost wholely intolerant religious rants/edicts the fruity islamic clerics spout out 5 times a day in iraq/iran,come to think of it.at least hes not an islamic cleric, then we d have to hear 4x more of his republican dogmatic crap.
we as a country of supposed “free thinkers” need a real re-thinking big time folks, the present day political and social situation in this country is a far flung bunch of b/s compared to what the founding fathers had in mind!!

So, if I understand what Karl Rove is saying, it seems to be this:
The end justifies the means.
It sure explains a lot about this administration & their activities.
Funny, that’s exactly the concept that I teach my son is *wrong*.
