Former CIA officer writes….

A former CIA officer with much counterterrorism experience writes:

"The bottom line for (ABC Entertainment’s) 9/11 movie is that President Clinton and his lieutenants had 10 chances to kill or capture bin Laden and they did not take any of them.  The ‘drama’ part of the docu- drama may not be accurate down to crossing the last ‘t’, but that doesn’t matter.  The basic, indisputable fact is that Clinton and his people failed on 10 occasions to eliminate bin Laden and protect Americans.  Most everything that has happened since May 1999 — the last chance they refused to kill bin Laden — has flowed from their deliberate decision not to protect Americans."

Discuss.

Um, how about you name one? (that occurred *after* Bin Laden had actually done something, and was dual sourced?)

Sir
I can not believe that you are going to run this stupid program. I am sure that Rush is happy as he pop`s his pills. I have loved Mr. Gibson for years but this is it for me with ABC!!

“an undisclosed source says Clinton is repsonsible for 9/11, the Holocaust, the crucifixion and male pattern baldness.”
Give me a break!
It’s sad how far ABC has sunk…

ABC “News” report on the “The Path to 9/11″ (AKA:”The Path to Winning in November”)is not suprising considering their desperate attempt to defend the obvious fact that the “docudrama” is aimed at supporting the republicans and bush while slamming the Democrats and Clinton. It is obvious that ABC and apparently ABC News is another voice for Rove, the RNC, and the ultra right. Why don’t you just change your name to FOX2 and FOX News2 and get it over with.

Amen! How is it the liberals can crankout Fahrenheit 911 and fully expect Republicans to keep quiet. Yet they scream bloody murder when one of there own (ABC) wants to air something that sheds a negative light on the Clinton Administration?
Please!

>>”The ‘drama’ part of the docu- drama may not be accurate down to crossing the last ‘t’, but that doesn’t matter. ”
AMEN!!!!
Facts simply do not matter anymore.
They’re confusing and make my head hurt.
Facts are for elitist liberal professors… not us real Americans.
I want my documentaries to tell me the same stuff that Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity tell me.
It’s easier that way.
We all know that 9/11 was caused by Clinton, the teachers union and the Jews.

Very coincidental that Charles Gibson gets an exclusive interview with GW the week that this farce hits the airwaves.

What do “former CIA Officers” think about Bush’s efforts?
How about a little balance, Jake? You’re not just cowtowing to the new ABC politics?
I do not want a political television station and I do not want biased news. I just want facts and truth.
P.S. I really do want to know how this can run without commercials (if that is indeed the case). I’d appreciate a response to this.

Liberals crank out Fahrenheit 911…no cry baby antics or attempts to sensor from conservatives
ABC (one of their own) puts out a movie putting the Clinton administration in a poor light and it’s a parade of whiners lined up from Washington to Hollywood.
How pathetic. Grow some liberals!

“A former CIA officer with much counterterrorism experience writes:”

Who?
Since this contradicts what the 9/11 commission found, I must assume this unnamed source is a politico who is lying.

I’m a former CIA official with EVEN MORE counterterrorism experience, and I say that other CIA offical you quoted is a moron.
So there.
(I like it that ABC has replaced news with gossip!
It’s SO much easier than finding facts!)

God help us when a “former CIA” type thinks it’s OK to play dice with the truth: “…docu- drama may not be accurate down to crossing the last ‘t’, but that doesn’t matter. ” If this is the attitude in “intelligence” circles, this country is in serious trouble. I for one play to cross ABC off my playlist.

Path to 911 is propaganda , and should not be released as “Fact”
My family and I will boycott ABC and Disney if you show it with the facts distorted.
Thank you

that alleged “CIA official” should talk to the 9/11 Commission, because they said the exact opposite.
According to the 9/11 Commission Report (pg. 199), then-CIA Director George Tenet had the authority from President Clinton to kill Bin Laden. Roger Cressy, former NSC director for counterterrorism, has written, “Mr. Clinton approved every request made of him by the CIA and the U.S. military involving using force against bin Laden and al-Qaeda.”

All Hail Der Klinton!! We need to look at this for what it really is. The democrats are afraid the truth will show them for what they are. Also that it will show how impotent the Klinton administration was. If we allow the democrats to take this show off the air, we may as well kiss our first amendment rights away. Of course it was the democrats who decided we needed to edit music for our children, and to give ratings to tv shows. Hmm, seems the democrats think they know what is best for us. However, thankfully, that is not true. Wake up America!!!! We have the right to see this show, we have the right to be informed. If this country actually read the truth about 9/11, then they would understand why we were attacked in 2001. The impotence of Klinton before hand has been well known.

Posted by: JB | September 8, 2006, 3:42 pm 3:42 pm

You’re kidding, right? Until this “former CIA officer” is named, and cites at least one confirmed, sourced instance where Clinton’s administration had a chance to take out bin Laden and didn’t, blogging something like this just makes you look desperate. How much pressure is the network and the Mouse putting on you, anyway?
C’mon Jake, you are better than this, surely.

Posted by: Former Republican | September 8, 2006, 3:45 pm 3:45 pm

Here’s the bottom line…. The Democratic Party as well as Bill Clinton, Sandy Berger, Madeline Albright etc. don’t want the truth to be known. If they did, they would have gotten involved with the film at the outset. They had opportunity, but chose not to get involved – fully knowing that it would be far better politically to stay out of it and cry foul after the fact, regardless of what was put in the film.
But, in typically Democrat Party form, rather than get involved with solving the problem (e.g. Social Security, Illegal Immigration, Tax Reform, Education etc.), they would much rather sit on the sidelines and moan and complain about how bad the other guy is doing out on the field.
The film needs to be shown unedited, and let the public decide.

ABC was my network of preference when it come to watching national and international news. I was always convinced that ABC was above tabloid journalism specially in todays world of partisant politic that is so destructive to the nation wellbeing. ABC desappointed me when the 9/11 tragedy is being used to cast doubt on the action of the previous administration when no such doubt never existed. I urge ABC to reconsider what is called a documentary on 9/11 and to simply can it in order to salvage any decency that this network used to have. I,for one, do not believe that ABC should become another mouthpiece for the present administration in the likeness of Fox TV. Note that I do not refer to Fox as a Network. Please spare me, my family, and many friends, to have to switch to another Network for real news. Disney will not be considered in the list of places where I will seek entertainment if this ” thing” is shown next week.
My sincere thanks and continued support if you oblige.

I remember it like it was yesterday. 9/11/2001. My wife and I woke up and turned on Good Morning America as we always do. It is always taped delayed because we live out west. Diane & Charlie were on, but it was a special report. Apparently, a plane of unknown origin and size had “crashed” into one of the world trade center buildings. Then all of a sudden we see a second commercial size plane “fly” into the other tower. My wife and I both looked at each other and said in unison “Osama Bin Laden.” I think most American’s had the same reaction. I look forward to seeing this “docudrama” and further understanding why my wife and I subconsciously knew America’s path to 9/11/2001. May America, all of us, never forget those souls and their families who paid the ultimate price for our lack of vigilance. God bless them and now let’s go out and win this war together!

Where was the same protest and outrage when Fahrenheit 9/11 was released.Shure singing different tune when shoe is on other foot.

Posted by: george | September 8, 2006, 4:19 pm 4:19 pm

Excuse me. Did Micheal Moore say Fahrenheit 911 was based on the 9/11 Commission Report? And try to sell it as history to school children? And run it on the public airwaves?
No, it was pointed political commentary and never claimed to be anything else.
If this ‘Docudrama’ is shown in movie theaters and doesn’t claim that it’s sanctioned by the 9/11 commission, there would be little outcry.
Why doesn’t ABC pull it from the air and sell DVDs to those who want to see it. Hell, they’s make a fortune. There’s a (rightwing) sucker born every minute.

Posted by: Ed | September 8, 2006, 4:19 pm 4:19 pm

To the people comparing Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 911 to this 911 movie; Fahrenheit 911 was a private endeaver shown in theatres where people had to drive to and pay the theatre to view the movie. It was not developed by a television network nor shown on the public airwaves. Had a network tried to show it the uproar would have been deafening.

Posted by: Bo Tees | September 8, 2006, 4:32 pm 4:32 pm

I certainly hope that for once ABC doesn’t bow to political pressure and broadcasts this special unedited. It would be refreshing if we didn’t hear the same talking points coming out of all primary news channels that are dictated by the dems.

Posted by: Dan | September 8, 2006, 4:45 pm 4:45 pm

I don’t have to agree with everything ABC or anyone says. That’s what makes America great. BUT, ABC does have an awesome responsibility; to provide the truth, even in a “docudrama”. No matter what you call it, people will watch it and believe it. AND, you’re not naive enough to believe otherwise.
I’m so terribly disappointed in Disney, ABC, and now, Jake Tapper, for rationalizing this program, which is still a fresh wound to Americans. Of course it matters, Mr. Tapper, how many chances the Clinton administration had to get Bin Laden. If Disney can’t get that right, what else did they get wrong?
You’ve got freedom of the press, but you can’t yell fire in a crowded movie theater. The airwaves are yours. Don’t you think you should take that responsibilty seriously?
A very saddened viewer,
P. O’Connor

I would like to point out to a previous poster that DISNEY, owners of ABC, refused to distribute “Fahrenheit 9/11″ because it was political and we were nearing a national election.
Also, 9/11 occurred during the Bush Administration. WELL into the Bush Administration (nine months + is plenty of time to get up to speed in NOT letting a major slaughter of Americans on American soil occur.)

Are the alleged opportunities the Clinton administration had to capture/kill bin Laden public domain and clearly documented anywhere?

Posted by: Freddie O'Connell | September 8, 2006, 4:59 pm 4:59 pm

“The basic, indisputable fact is that Clinton and his people failed on 10 occasions to eliminate bin Laden and protect Americans.”
It is very disputable. Most notably, it is by no means certain that OBL could have been eliminated on any of those 10 occasions. Certainly, no one ever had him in the crosshairs, as the movie suggests.
A former CIA officer should know this, and should not make deliberately deceptive statements like this.
On each occasion, there was only a single source pinpointing the location of OBL. I have seen no assessment of how reliable these sources were, but if the CIA director himself advises against action, that must mean the likelihood of a mistake was high.
Unlike the Bush administration, Clinton and his crew were careful not to alienate the Arab world without a very good reason. Our mindless Texas comboy president has caused more anti-American sentiment, and caused more danger to the American people, than anyone else in recent history.

Posted by: jcs | September 8, 2006, 5:04 pm 5:04 pm

The producers of this film are conservative Bush supporters. Advance copies were sent to conservative bloggers and pundits, for example Rush Limbaugh and Hugh Hewitt. But NONE were made available to the Clinton administration even after they requested it. Then ABC whines that it’s “not the final cut and edits are still being made” Then why send out advance copies?? 900 of them?? And why send out “teaching materials” before the final version was ready. This was a political hit piece from the beginning and now they are having to backtrack to cover their backsides.

Posted by: DJShay | September 8, 2006, 5:04 pm 5:04 pm

I will be highly upset if the ABC/Disney show doesn’t include at least one interview with Bill Clinton’s penis. If these ultra right wing producers don’t place the blame for 9/11 squarely on the “clenis”, they should have their brownshirt status revoked.

“As someone who has far more insight than the paid CIA/ABC shrill, let me tell you folks something – the night before 9/11, George Bush Sr. was having a meeting with OBL’s brother. Yes, HIS BROTHER, right before the WTC attacks.
Clinton never did have a good shot a OBL, something the Republican Media won’t talk about. The only clear shot was at Tora Bora and of course Bush let him slip away to Pakistan, on purpose.
Continue to believe the lies folks, you just make the CIAs job that much easier.

Must be nice living in the conservative alternet reality, where apparently there was no conservative outcry over Farenhiet 9/11, and apparently “The Reagans”, CBS insufficiently laudatory docudrama was never even produced.
Back here in the real world, there was a crapload of conservative outrage over Farenhiet 9/11, even though it was privately produced and shown in theaters where only those, who chose to pay for it, were subjected to it.
Back here in the real world, conservative threw such a fit over “The Reagans” that is was pulled, and it wasn’t even set to run without commercials before an election.
Oh, and to the uninformed poster above, they are NOT ABC’s airwaves. They are the PUBLIC’s airwaves, which ABC uses for free under government liscense.

Since this movie is obviously a political movie, I am not interested in even seeing it. I don’t want to be someone who has to either be upset at another political party or someone who is defensive about the other. I don’t care about the politics and that is obviously what this movie is about, or it wouldn’t have caused this kind of controversy. I already know what happened that day. We had people in this country who were already under suspicion of terrorism. They went to school to only learn to fly a plane and not to land it. Some of those terrorists didn’t even have picture identification and were still allowed to board their plane. Warnings were issued everywhere, but nobody cared. And much, much more. I don’t need to see this movie if its goal is to politicize such an event.

Posted by: Maddie Halfbright | September 9, 2006, 4:55 pm 4:55 pm

I hope the movie runs just the way the movie was made and let the chips fall where they fall.
First, this is such a clear violation and a intimation by a political party in the United States to threaten a news group, what we have been witness to in reference to this movie airing or not in the first place. You have to give it to ABC for putting the funds and interest in the movie number 1. With some of the reviews that I have read it cuts both ways in which much had could had been done to have changed the way we look at terrorism or threats.
What do I mean by violation?
It’s a clear violation of the First Amendment. It’s that simple, not extreme to see. All of those who are trying to force this airing to be stopped should be prosecuted due to violation of the first amendment and those trying to topple the government censoring free speech… but due to the fact we live in such a political correct environment and men can’t be men anymore, we got we got and one party can rewrite the rules for them to regain power or have power. There’s only one way to read a law, too many are interjecting their spin, their own person views to fit them, on our laws…
I don’t get it—we have so many blessings here while other people on this earth are suffering. – Whatever higher power you hold close, must be looking at this, as man’s doings. Why so many citizens put their politics before their own country. All the service men and women we have fighting for us and the ones out there in far way places reading data, watching the skies, gathering research and evaluating this data to prevent any attack so we can go along with our daily routines. We can assume their routines are pretty much watching the same data and dressing up in much the same heavy gear and watching their backs from being cut down to pieces… Then we read many want to do is put their nation second, third or somewhere over free speech. What about the constitution… The extreme liberals and people who do not pay full attention to what’s really going on and people who put your personal agenda first are getting us all in a situation to where the nation is complacent and just thinking this stuff will not happen again. Some do not want to think and prepare for the worse.
The terrorist are using the American media to get their propaganda out and sorry to say that our American media is fully satisfied to help them because most networks are owned or run by liberals who love their ideas and want those ideas in the mainstream, I suspect. The left keeps the print or on line media flooded with their ideas trying to make it look as though it’s mainstream thinking. They are dangerous citizens within. May want to call them little terrorist within. I do. Every country has them and we know them as Marxists or Stalinists.
All the people who have condemned President Bush, I would love to look through your closets and see what all you have done or not done. It’s easy to talk but can you walk the walk like our brave soldiers are doing. Most of us could never amount to those guys as in bravery and really knowing what it means to put all this political mess in the back and put the love of our county first.
Clinton made his legacy, no movie, no TV drama…No tidbit on the newsstand will change that. It’s clear he dropped the ball (yes, I know he dropped his pants) of being a good leader. Clinton faked a war to get the Monica gate off the news. He is a sick person to have done that… we were hit many times while Clinton was in office—US Embassy in Africa and the firebombs Twin Towers. USS Cole attack. He shot one military missile then went back to Monica. Big deal, yes it is while many died… His wife knew this and she knew Madeline Albright was just a potato head and would do as she was told. That woman is a disgrace in my book, movie or no movie… Hillary makes Martha Stewart look like a girl scout. One day, his legacy will be written and it will not be the one that he likes because not everyone is spoon fed by the communist leaning networks. The Clinton administration had some of the worse people with the worse backgrounds working in the government, too bad someone today will not have the guts to rat them out and put their country first. Most of the elected officials are corrupt or afraid to speak out for a number of reasons… How they continue to get way with so much, like Sandy the Burglar stealing from the National Archives is beyond insane why he was not put in prison. I wonder if those papers would prove without a doubt that President Clinton did have those meetings and talks to let OBL go — making those parts in the movie a reality?? May explain to me why Clinton, Burger, Harry Reid and Albright pressured ABC to squash FREE SPEECH and the FRIST AMENDMENT. Sounds like a dictator to me.
The liberals are liberals first; I said this years ago and now more proof… Guess I see why they get away with all this illegal stuff…They have their hands and threats in news agencies. Clinton was a dictator led by hand while in the government now the real one wants to play… He spent more time out of the country, like Kerry, bashing President Bush and their own country. The constitution made America, not the political correct movement which is hell bent on destroying America. No matter who is in office in the future we will have more attacks because the enemy is bad people (I cleaned that up). So, keep blaming one side instead of being united. I hope the liberals’ loose in 2006/2008. The GOP is lazy for allowing this crap and the DNC are run by leftist and Marxists. I will be voting, you can count on it because I love my country not a party.

Sorry for the typos on my first post. First Amendment//personal views etc…
By the way, where are the GOP leaders with this censorship on display? Hiding? We are certainly on our own out in America land. We barely have true representatives. I will hold my nose to vote for the GOP– the lazy ones who keep the borders open. Both parties are responsible but the American public is the problem for allowing stuff to continue as we have it, find a mirror. Too bad the masses would not boycott, we would see changes! Gosh, we need term limits!

“The Democratic Party as well as Bill Clinton, Sandy Berger, Madeline Albright etc. don’t want the truth to be known. If they did, they would have gotten involved with the film at the outset. They had opportunity, but chose not to get involved…”
This is pure BS. The guy who wrote the script is a close friend of Rush Limbagh, a Christian Coalition political writer. 900 advanced copies of the tapes were mailed out to Fox and other conservative correspondants and politicos, but not a single one to any former Clinton administration people — the people who are being slandered in this “film.”
It’s amazing how easily fooled Compassionate Conservatives are nowadays. The cool aid must be kicking in.
