GOV. WARNER GETS HIP

ABC’s Mona Raphael reports: Realizing that the words "text message" and "free iPod"  may be required to get today’s teens politically active, former Gov. Mark Warner (D-VA) is launching the TxtVoter contest in conjunction with his PAC, Forward Together. As if the presidential hopeful couldn’t get any more cool, Gov. Warner will have a profile on Facebook (have no fear, you will be able to add him as a friend), and will also be promoting the contest on Youtube.

The contest is a nationwide effort to register new voters through cell phones. It will run through the month of September and is administered by TxtVoter.org. The contest is the flagship initiative of Forward Together’s newly launched YouthRoots program. LINK

His push to have people register to vote via text message is just his most recent attempt to introduce himself to digital age voters.  Last month, Gov. Warner appeared as an avatar version of himself at a town hall meeting in the cyberspace community "Second Life."
