MURTHA ON U.S. MILITARY: “YOU CAN’T CONFUSE ENTHUSIASM WITH CAPABILITY”

ABC’s Z. Byron Wolf reports: While once again calling for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s resignation and making reference to Bush officials "sitting on their fat backsides," Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) said, "All of us know the military is not going to say ‘Not ready for duty.’"

"You can’t confuse enthusiasm with capability," Murtha added during a press conference on Capitol Hill.

In a reference to House Majority Leader John Boehner’s (R-OH) Tuesday comment that Democrats are “more interested in protecting the terrorists than protecting Americans," Rep. David Obey (D-WI) called Boehner a "third-rate McCarthy" at the same press conference.
