Just landed on my whirlwird tour of South Park and the Arizona-Mexico border. American Airlines really is quite pleasant, I have to give them credit.
The South Park leg of the trip was actually to Culver City, CA, where the creators of the hit Comedy Central show — about to enter its 10th season – toil. Matt Stone and Trey Parker weighed in on everything ranging from religion to Tom Cruise to censorship to their politics; as of now this is slated for Friday’s Nightline. It was a very interesting conversation, held as they prepare for their season debut. Parker confided that with all their censorship issues this past year — not being permitted to show a cartoon image of the prophet Mohammed (while being allowed to show Jesus defacating on President Bush, I might add); the controversial Scientology episode that was (temporarily) pulled from re-run rotation — he wondered if the world had changed so much South Park could no longer survive.
Then it was off to Tucson, Az., where one of the hottest House races in the nation is heating up as conservative Randy Graf won his party’s nomination — despite the opposition of retiring GOP Rep. Jim Kolbe and the national Republican party — by focusing on illegal immigration. We spoke with Graf and made a visit to the Arizona-Mexico border where we saw in vivid detail how this issue looks in a border state. This should be for Thursday’s World News with Charles Gibson….
