WHITE HOUSE SAYS INTEL REPORT DOESN’T TELL THE WHOLE STORY
ABC’s Jessica Yellin reports: An Administration official takes issue with the way the NIE story is being reported and cautions us to be wary of reporting that the NIE bluntly says we are less safe because of Iraq. Official says we don’t know what else it says about our efforts, successes, or other reasons the jihidists may have increased their ranks.
And on the Democrats’ quick reaction to the NIE leaks: official says it’s interesting that dem’s siezed on this report today, but didn’t raise any concerns when it was given to the intelligence committees before it appeared in the New York Times.
Administration official adds, vis a vis election and timing of NIE release — a discussion of the war, Iraq included, "is stronger ground for us. However disenchanted the public may be about Iraq, they don’t think the Dems have the answer."

I worry about how this war is being administered. I can’t think of one significant change in strategy they have made since going in. The situation on the ground has clearly changed, maybe the strategy should as well.
Iraq is getting worse every year. Imagine what 2007, 2008, 2009, etc.. will look like.

Okay fine. Redact the sources and methods and then release the entire NIE conclusions. We’ll figure out for ourselves what the whole story is.

Are you kidding? There is now way they will release the whole document! They don’t want us to know what a complete, total, and utter failure they have been. That’s also why the report from former Secretary of Defense Baker isn’t being released until after the elections in November. Mr. Baker said he didn’t want it to influence the political debate. That should tell us alot right there!

Absolutely absurd to expect the whole document to be released. Imagine how many people can be exposed and placed at risk. Then one wonders why the war isn’t making huge strides against the terrorists. If the media exposes everything it delivers oodles of valuble information to the enemy and hampers the war effort.
