Bush Says Nothing “Artificial” About Benchmark Plan
ABC’s Erica Anderson reports: President Bush said today that the United States is shifting its tactics and working on a timetable with the Iraq government. He emphasized, however, that the plan was different from an "artificial" timetable.
Asked whether the US public might think that the Bush Administration’s new plan of benchmarks and timetables was motivated by pre-election posturing, President Bush said: "You’re asking me why I’m giving this speech today? Because I think I owe an explanation to the American people and will continue to make explanations. The people need to know that we have a plan for victory."
