Rep. Roy Blunt Responds to NJ Same-Sex Ruling, Attacks Pelosi
ABC News’ David Chalian Reports: House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) has issued an Off-Camera paper statement lambasting the New Jersey Supreme Court ruling and reaffirming his support for the Defense of Marriage Act and the Federal Marriage Amendment. He then goes on to state where Nancy Pelosi stood on those votes and wonders whether a Pelosi-led House would defend marriage."
"The Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi has opposed each and every one of these efforts," says Blunt
"Given the actions of the New Jersey Supreme Court today and the fact that similar cases are pending in four other courts, the American people deserve to know whether a Pelosi-led House would defend marriage."

Obama Backs Off Birth Control Battle?
Perhaps a Pelosi-led House might focus on more important matters pertaining to the environment, health-care, middle-class tax relief, proper regulatory efforst in every area…things that have been neglected for the past many years. How often can these false issues (i.e. flag burning etc.) be raised as though they are of any importance?

The Americans who really support freedom want to know how their elected officials will protect the constitution from bigots!

Time for the republicons to start bashing gays . . . election time is here.
I am so disgusted at all this arrogant posturing.
My partner and I have paid taxes are entire lives – supporting schools, medical plans, family benefits, the military, and roy bozo\s salary. Hell, I even served in the military for 5 years.
I’m an American, damn it. We ALL deserve a fair shake at the American dream, not manipulation of our founding documents to enshrine discrimination forever.
I’m tired of pompous *sses like Roy Blunt acting like they’re on some sacred mission.
We have real issues in this country, Roy. Isn’t it about time you started paying attention to the real world and not the fantasy tale you’ve invented to justify your miserable incompetence?

How does one get an idea on the Same Sex Marriage issue heard by someone in the news who can see the possible value to our culture?
We need to revolutionize marriage by making Civil Union the ONLY designation the State gives and leave Marriage to the Church. No one can be married without a Civil Union first. If one wants to be married, one needs then to go to the church of choice who may or may not marry gays and lesbians. But otherwise ALL are equal under the law of Civil Union.
I have written extensively on this issue and have much to share to anyone who will listen. This issue has huge ramifications on the “Separation of Church and State.”

The courts are there to make sure that majority rule does not trample minority rights. Blunt and his republican cronies seems to have no understanding of this concept. It is simply time for them all to go. Vote November 7th!

There are so many things to worry about in this great country, gay marriage is not one of them. I honestly don’t understand how this has become such a big issue. How is allowing gays to marry affecting my life, it’s not. If people are happy, allow them to marry. My life and the people that find it so important to ban it’s lives will continue without hitch. Allow gays to marry and figure out how you are gonna get us home from this fiasco in Iraq.

The fundamental question of whether marriage is between a man and a woman is if you believe the Bible or not. George Bush does, and like it or not, homosexuality is a sin. That doesn’t make me homophobic or insecure, it just simply means I believe what the Bible says. If you don’t believe it, that’s fine.

The ruling in NJ in its basic sentiment simply states that same-sex unions are entitled to the same rights – and responsibilities – as other couples.
Put simply, we pay the same tazes, we share the same birthright, and we are therefore due the same respect and equality under the law as any other couple.
Your church may never respect my relationship, but then again I may never respect your church.
But gays will continue to demand that we be respected under the laws of this land. And we will not accept being second class citizens in this country.
You are no better than me, and your believe in God is no stronger than mine.
Whether you like it or not, not loving thy neighbor as yourself is a sin.
I wish you only happiness, and I ask you not to seek to prevent my own.

a previous comment says bush believes in the bible, i.e. homosexuality is wrong.
The bible says thou shalt not kill. How many has he killed as governor and commander in chief?
The bible says thou shalt not bear false witness. How many lies does he tell?
Why do people who base a belief on the bible convently forget the parts of the bible they don’t want to follow?

Jason, eating pork is a sin also. So are we gonna start passing constitutional amendments to ban the sale of bacon in grocery stores?
Get real.

I misread the way the comments are laid out. So my comment is directed at Chad, not Jason.
