Democratic Candidate’s Ad Attacks Republicans Over Foley
ABC’s Tahman Bradley reports: While Republicans play defense over Mark Foley, a Democrat launches a TV spot hoping to prove she can protect children.
In Minnesota, Patty Wetterling’s congressional campaign is airing an ad assailing Republicans in Congress for their handling of the Mark Foley scandal. The ad claims, "For over a year (Republicans) knowingly ignored the welfare of children to protect their own power." The spot says Wetterling is demanding a criminal investigation and the expulsion from Congress of any member who was involved in the Mark Foley cover-up.
For many years Wetterling has advocated for child protection. She successfully pushed for sex offender registry legislation that was named for her son Jacob, who was abducted sixteen years ago. Wetterling is battling GOP candidate Michele Bachmann in Minnesota’s 6th congressional district.

I cannot believe that the leadership of the house of representatives would not investigated the Foley emails when they first heard about them.
In this day and age when we are having so many harassment cases being reported, pedophiles preying on young children, rapes on the rise, even priests, and in the corporate board rooms, this so called leadership sweeps it under the rug.
Are they so overcome with power they think they can just ignore what went on when the pentagon tried to ignore and cover up the Abu Ghraib prison fiasco.
Anybody with half a brain has to ask, what were the so called leadership thinking–it is obvious, they are so consumed with power they do not have the capability to think.

Shakespeare once said, “When you have nothing else to offer, attack your opponents, regardless of relevancy.” In this case, why the hell not attack the GOP? We have nothing else to offer, so what else is new? And good for Mark Foley; he finally gave us an issue, albeit a faux one, on which to attack the leadership of the GOP. Now we can look like heroes!

Foley is full of excuses- the only thing he is sorry for is that he got CAUGHT. He needs to be locked up for life. I am appalled the Republicans tried to cover this up, that they care more about their political careers than the safety of our children! SHAMEFUL !!

Mimi! Get real. Locked up for life? Come on! I believe that a page has to be at least 16 years old. One can join the armed forces and die for one’s country at 17. When is a “child” an adult? At what age? In our courts some 15 year old felons are prosecuted as adults. Foley certainly cannot be labeled as a “pedophile” in these circumstances. A sixteen year old today is not a sixteen year old of thirty years ago. Bill Clinton was guilty of a lot more than Foley. At least Foley had the decency to resign.

Just imagine the smearing that would be done by republicans if Foley were an actual democrat, unlike Fox(faux) news’ lies.
