Democrats Rally Near Capitol Hill and Watch Final Numbers

ABC News’ Jennifer Duck reports: When the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee opened its doors at the Capitol Hyatt, people flooded the room — loitering by two full bars and enjoying the live band set up across the room from a bank of TV cameras. 

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi took the stage, the crowd embraced her chanting, "Nancy, Nancy, Nancy," with roaring applause and screams for victory.

"Let’s hear it for our candidates, all across the country, our fighting Dems, our vets  who  are running, our working moms, our community leaders, our law enforcement.  All across the  board these candidates have excellent credentials, great ideals, and they are, again, fighters for  the future," Pelosi said, as the crowd erupted with applause.

Cheering continued while Democratic candidates were projected winners on flat-screen televisions scattered throughout the ballroom. 

When Menendez was projected winner in NJ, the band amped up the crowd by singing "Watching New Jersey Lose" to the tune of "Walk On By" by Dire Straits. 

And when Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum conceded, the crowd didn’t hesitate to show their feelings about Bob Casey’s projected Democratic win by heckling the fallen incumbent.

However, the crowd was at odds on what to do when Joe Lieberman of  Connecticut was projected winner.  Some booed, some half-cheered, others paused in awkward silence.
