Dems Plan to Close with Focus on Iraq

ABC News’ Teddy Davis Reports: Calling it "the clearest contrast Democrats can make," DCCC communications director Bill Burton tells ABC News this morning that Democrats are "closing with Iraq in as big a way as possible today."

In particular, Democrats plan to focus on:

1. NRSC Chair Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) saying of Democrats Sunday on "Meet the Press": "It’s like they’re content with losing. To pull out and withdraw is losing. The Democrats appear to be content with losing."
2. The Military Times’ endorsement of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s departure.
3. The generals who have called for Secretary Rumsfeld’s departure.
4. The Republicans who "all say that Iraq is moving in the wrong direction" and the "steadfast adherence" of President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) to push on "full speed ahead," as the Vice President recently told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.

Democrats plan to disseminate their message in the following ways:

1. DCCC Chair Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) and DSCC Chair Chuck Schumer (D-NY) are putting out a joint statement this morning.
2. Rep. Emanuel is going to have a conference call with reporters at 12:00 pm ET to talk about the issue from Chicago.
3. Sen. Schumer is going to have a press conference at 1:00 pm ET in Washington, DC
4. The DCCC will be sending out an "aggressive correspondence via email" to its "multi-million person supporter list."
5. Democrats will be working to get Democrats booked on national television and radio.
6. Democratic candidates for Congress will hold up copies of the Army Times at podiums, alleging that a vote for the GOP is a vote for Secretary Rumsfeld and for "stay the course."

Fair enough. If the Dems. win the House (and maybe Senate), sounds to me like a mandate to begin a phased withdrawal from Iraq and our failed attempt at empire, I mean democracy, building. If the Reps. maintain the House & Senate, we will “stay the course” as the American people will have given the administration the necessary mandate to pursue it’s current policy, no matter the outcome. So, when it is all said and done, the people speak…and get what they deserve.

A Vote for the Republicans is a vote for more dead troops! A vote for Republicans is a vote for protecting pedophiles!
Democrats protect children and troops! Rove’s “Death to democracy machine” is over!
