Sen. Leahy Wants Answers

ABC News’ Pierre Thomas reports: In a premonition of things to come, the Judiciary Committee’s ranking Democrat and soon-to-be chairman, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt) has sent a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales asking for the release of previously unknown documents related to the Bush administration’s torture policies.

Leahy has continually requested all information relating to detainee treatment from the Justice Department, the FBI and the CIA, though none of the requests produced documents that the CIA acknowledged as part of pending Freedom of Information act lawsuit filed by the ACLU.

With Leahy on the brink of chairing the Judiciary Committee, it will be difficult for the Justice Department to ignore his requests.

This Justice Department is less about upholding laws and more about upholding this president’s agenda. I find Gonzales and this administration, to be a a thorn in the side of true democracy. They have turned this country into a theocracy and the damage is epic.
