Cheney’s Role in the Ford Funeral
ABC News’ Karen Travers Reports: Having served as the White House Chief of Staff under the Ford administration, Vice President Dick Cheney first rose to national prominence under President Ford and is expected to participate in the services.
On Saturday, December 30th, Vice President Cheney will serve as an honorary pall bearer at the arrival at Andrews Air Force Base. Cheney will also deliver the eulogy at the Capitol.
On Tuesday, January 2nd, Cheney will serve as an honorary pall bearer at the National Cathedral and again at the departure at Andrews.
On Wednesday, January 3rd, the Vice President is expected to attend funeral services for President Gerald Ford in Grand Rapids, MI.
Earlier this year at the Gerald R. Ford Journalism Prize Luncheon in Washington, Cheney spoke of his time working with Ford.
"In working with him every day, it struck me that whatever the circumstance, whatever the political temperature, whatever the challenge of the moment, I was always dealing fundamentally with the same man," Cheney said.
