Jake, I’d like a cow for the holidays. I’ve asked my family and friends to either donate to Oxfam, or buy a cow from them for a mere $75. That cow goes to a family in a third world country and supplies them both nourishment and financial opportunity.
Not as sexy as the Victoria’s Secret million dollar bra, but close.

One of the organizations I’ve supported for several years and which taught me what “fair trade” means is SERRV International. They publish an absolutely stunning catalogue of carefully crafted art, gift, and food items, any of which would be welcome. Since it’s only a couple of weeks until the big day, they also have a web address—-and online shopping, too. I can personally vouch for their coffees and chocolate–delicious!
