Al Gore Acceptance Speech

Though he isn’t per se actually included in the list of nominees for best documentary film this evening, former Vice President Al Gore — as "An Inconvenient Truth" producer Laurie David told us — will be dragged onto the stage to speak.

What would you say were you Mr. Gore?

One suggestion: "I am thankful for so many things tonight, not least of which that the Supreme Court decided to let the Academy balloting process stand…"

Ideas?

He can use the opportunity to further his political prospects, but he cannot be political. If history is to be used as a gauge, that is. He’ll get booed if he gets up there and talks about Iraq.
He should just be as confident and charming as possible. Tell a few jokes. Talk about the making of the documentary. That’s it.

“I am running for president…of the Academy, and this time I can’t be cheated because you are all Democrats!”

I think he should declare his candidacy for president and lambast the Bush administration for all of the wrongs they have committed.

hollywood has no standing outside hollywood so any decision by, for, and in hollywood is moot in the rest of the world.
it is well know that “An Inconvenient Truth” equals a convenient lie.

Do you think it would be possible to cover Mr Gore’s electric bill on a blog in order to get public opinion on it? Al seems to have become become the latest whack-a-mole for the far right/exxon crowd. Whatever reporting you do on the subject, may it be fair and balanced and take into account Mr. Gore’s neighborhood, house size, and the expenditures of his peers.
