Filibuster?

Right now it looks like the Senate is headed for a filibuster over the anti-surge resolution. MORE HERE.

A very good piece Jake!
A Filibuster blocks a vote not a debate. The cloture vote Reid wants is a parlimentary manuver to cut off debate.
Seems that Reid voted with the repubs on this one and voted agains cloture.
Glad the Dems never used these “feeble procedural measures” when they were in the minority.
Are we living in bizzaro world or watching a circus?….or both

The thing I’m not understanding is why the democrats would vote “yes” to the Gregg resolution. Why not vote “no” to Gregg and “yes” to Warner?
In my view, that wouldn’t be logically inconsistent. The Gregg resolution as I understand it essentially continues in effect the blank check, without accountability, that Bush has enjoyed since the Iraq invasion began. Congress needs to reign Bush in.
I know that Warner won’t get 60 votes. Fine, but at least let a vote be taken. Make them go on the record. So what if you don’t get a victory. If the votes aren’t there, they’re not there.
