Obama: Why Would I Apologize?
ABC News’ Steve Portnoy Reports: ABC News’ Steve Portnoy Reports: Speaking to reporters outside the Iowa state capitol in Des Moines, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., refused to repudiate comments that Hollywood mogul David Geffen made to New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd about the Clintons, saying he can’t be responsible for "every single individual who contributes to our campaign."
Obama indicated that Geffen’s views did not match his own and said that he will consider Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-Ill. an "ally" throughout the campaign.
He questioned, however, why he’d have to apologize for something someone else said.
"You know, it’s not clear to me," said Obama. "Why would I be apologizing for someone else’s remarks?"

Obama Backs Off Birth Control Battle?
This is just an example of typical political dirty tricks. Clinton makes it look through the media that Obama was attacking her when the comments came from one of her ex campaign contributors. To think that it’s only February 2007 and we have almost a year to go before the primaries, it’s kind of scary to think how dirty this campaign is going to get.

Seriously, this is something you would expect from a Rep & a Dem, but not between 2 from the same party. These two should be working TOGETHER.
Obam is right. He doesn’t need to apologize. I’m leaning more & more towards him the more I read.
On Hilary’s defence, has anyone notice how the media is posting the most awful pictures of her lately?? Ah… Freedom of the press, and no propaganda whatsoever.

I am a rabid Democrat but agree with Geffen, Hillary is unelectable. Unfortunately, I believe Obama also to be unelectable. I will fight bitterly hard for any nominee our party puts forth but I just wish we didn’t have to pick from two finalists selected by the media.

I just saw Howard Wolfson, communications director for the Clinton campaign on another program and boy did he sound like a whining petulent child! Making David Geffens remarks a function of the Obama campaign is just sad and a clear indicator that the Camp Clinton is afraid of Obama. Demanding that Obama give the money back is laughable – as is Clinton whining about a former supporter criticizing her.
They, the Clinton Camp, just gave me one more reason to feel good about throwing my support behind OBAMA. She’s just more politics as usual.

Hillary is the one doing most of the “bashing” here. Her communications director, Wolfson, was on Hardball strongly insinuating that Barack Obama was behind these remarks and that’s just rubbish. He had absolutely nothing to do with it! If, God forbid, Hillary Clinton wins this nomination, there’s no way I could vote for her now.

It is so ridiculous when the media starts so much of this negative stuff. Politics or no politics, what does what someone else said about the Clintons have to do with Obama? The person who made the statement worked with the Clintons. So what? He also is backing Obama and is helping with his campaign. So what? The two have nothing to do with each other. The media makes tries to sell papers by making it appear as if Obama has done something to Clinton. This is to allow the public to assume the two are at odds. It is the media and the media does this in attempts to strengthen whoever they want to win. It is really ridiculous.

the slinging of the mud has begun and will continue until election day 2008. it’s a wonder we don’t all just vote for the NICEST person running for office! they’re all acting like 3-year-olds. grow up.

I hope it gets dirty. These fake liberals and fake conservatives need to be fleshed out. Clinton for her Trotsky-ite politics and Obama for his fake anti-war, Israel coddeling.
Let’s make this the dirtiest election ever. Also, we can expose Newt and Rudy as constitution killing, traitorous enemies of America and Bill Richardson as the fakest man in the Senate.
But the only candidate with no dirt is Ron Paul..the only Republican candidate that isn’t covered by the media.

Obama did the right thing by resonding to Clinton’s camp remarks. If he didn’t, he would be labeled weak. But lets remember who swung the first mud ball. The clinton camp should be ashame of themselves. And they call this running a positive campaign.

I think Senator Clinton has made a mistake, private citizens have a right to their own thoughts and the right to express them. Only person who can apologize for the statement is Mr. Geffen if he cares to do so.

“Obama indicated that Geffen’s views did not match his own and said that he will consider Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-Ill. an “ally” throughout the campaign.”
You meant Hillary Clinton, D-NY ….right?

People, all of you need to realize that Obama is supported by Republican party because they can take on him a lot easier if he is nominated by Democratic party. To prove it, i know 100s or republicans who vote for obama just for that reason. In addition, Clinton is the only hope this country has at this point
