Obama Bemoans Lesser-Evilism
ABC News’ Matthew Zavala Reports: While speaking to members of the Democratic National Committee in Washington DC, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., urged his party to go beyond ‘lesser-evilism’.
"We don’t want another election where voters are holding their noses and feeling like they are lesser voting for the lesser of two evils."
Obama argued that cynicism has limited America’s possibilities, calling for universal health care by the end of the first term of the next president, energy independence, and a responsible plan for getting the United States out of the war in Iraq. He sought to differentiate himself from his rivals by reminding his audience that he was opposed to the Iraq War before it began "publicly" and "frequently."
