Rice calls Obama “an extraordinary person”

ABC News’ John Hendren and Lindsay Hamilton report: Making the Sunday talk show rounds, Rice stopped talking Iraq and Iran for a moment to weigh in on the ’08 presidential race.

Fox News’ Chris Wallace asked Rice what she thought of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. Rice said she thinks he is "very appealing and a great person… an extraordinary person."

Rice thinks Obama’s candidacy shows how far the U.S. has come in overcoming stereotypes about African Americans.

"It will not be long, I think, before [race] is no longer a barrier to being president of the United States," she said. "If I serve my full term, we will not have had a white male secretary of state for 12 years- a white woman, a black man, and a black woman. That’s how far our country has come, even though we can’t deceive ourselves, race is still a factor in this country."

This seems to be the latest Republican talking point : “Don’t micromanage the war”, which is the same as “trust us, we know what we are doing.” However, they do not have the credibility to deserve that benefit of the doubt. Bush’s Wild Ride has been a failure. We have lost over a trillion dollars, thousands of lives, and our honor in the world…if that is an example of the Republican management of the war, than it’s time to bring in Donald Trump to tell them “You’re fired”. This is no longer about micromanagement, management, or any other flavors of spin…it is now about stopping a war that is wrong, has failed, and has greatly sapped our moral authority around the world. When the history of this time is written, it will describe Iraq as a horrible misadventure and the point at which U.S. world power began a downhill slide. We have gotten nothing as a people from the waging of this war…however, many contractors are sitting happily in dark corners counting their money while the bodies pile up.
