Senate Dems Call for Saturday Iraq Vote

ABC News’ Jake Tapper Reports: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) announced that the Senate will take up a cloture vote — a vote to cut off debate and move to final passage — on the House version of the anti-surge resolution on Saturday. This will provide senators with yet another chance to vote on the president’s policy.
This may complicate campaign travel schedules for the many presidential hopefuls who currently serve in the Senate. On Saturday, Sen. McCain and Sen. Biden plan to be in Iowa, Sen. Obama and Sen. Dodd plan to be in South Carolina, and Sen. Clinton plans to be in New Hampshire.

Damn, do these congress guys do ANYTHING other than propose and vote?

I wouldn’t even mind the absence of free travel, gifts, and all that other stuff. Just give me the 200k per year and I’ll be a proposal-writing fool.

This is an excellent move by Harry Reid. The public is blaming the GOP for not wanting to debate the Iraq war. This looks like a compromise, so if the Republicans block it again, they’ll get killed in the media.

Bravo for Reid. The people have begged for action and legislation from those elected to legislate.
Reid’s adroit, decisive, move gives heart to those of us fearing faint heartedness in Congress. Let the drama begin!
