Breaux Responds to Blanco’s Exit
ABC News’ Sarah Baker Reports: One day after Governor Kathleen Blanco, D-La., announced her decision not to run for re-election, former Sen. John Breaux, D-La., announced that he is considering running for the office himself.
"Now that Governor Blanco has made her decision, I am spending time with my family while seriously evaluating what is best for Louisiana, and determining whether I can be helpful for the State as a candidate for Governor," said Breaux in a statement. "I expect to announce my intention in the near future and want to sincerely thank all the people who have offered their advice and support."
Breaux, who left the U.S. Senate in 2005, remains popular in the state and has been hinting at his interest in the governorship for some time.
