Clinton Prepared to Set Firm Iraq Troop Withdrawal Deadline

ABC News’ David Chalian Reports: Senator Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., is prepared to set a firm deadline to withdraw American troops from Iraq by the end of August 2008.  During her live Good Morning America town hall meeting, Clinton told ABC News’ Robin Roberts that if she was president, she would sign the recently passed House bill setting a firm deadline for withdrawing American troops.

The Senator was recently quoted in the New York Times about the Senate version of the war funding bill appearing somewhat more reluctant to endorse a hard deadline.  She said of the March 31, 2008 withdrawal date in the Senate bill: "It’s a goal, not a deadline."

Clinton added that some small contingent of American troops may need to remain in Iraq to deal with fighting Al Qaeda.

In other news, Clinton preempted her press conference in Iowa later today and told ABC News’ Robin Roberts that she is happy to accept the support and endorsement from former Gov. Tom Vilsack, D-IA, who up until last month was also running for president.

During an interview with affiliate WOI, Clinton announced that Vilsack would serve as a national co-chair of her presidential campaign.

I would like to know if Hillary thinks that Americans have forgotten about Bill and his sex scandal? Did she put it on the back burner so that she could futher her political career? My mate would not stand for that in any form. Her families values speak badly of her and her marriage. What kind of values will she have as a president? This does not speak very well for women in America and their values of maggiage when the first lady of our great country allows this in her marriage. I will not vote for someone who allows this to happen in their marriage and stay in the marriage for their own political gains!!!!!

The Jewish Renaissance foundation founded the first faithbased federally qualified health center in america. (Perth Amboy NJ). I believe they will give healthcare to underinsured and uninsured patients. The Jewish renaissance Medical center works well with the local hospital (Raritan Bay Medical Center)..

Healthcare is a big issue in many people lives…government supported healthcare is very important than state supported healthcare because the states don’t take care of the people now. I am referring to poor and economically disadvantaged people…I believe that we would like for the government to provide healthcare for us because that means that more investigation can be done in the mist of corruption that now takes place in the state ran healthcare system. Growing up in the system that has been run by state workers, I have learned that quality care must be overlooked and properly supervised for the customer to gain confidence in any type of endeavor that will definitely effect a person’s lifestyle…..confidence is what gives a person hope to want live, especially when that person is faced with cancer are some other dire disease.
The war on terror is getting out of hand, but in all facts we must not give up the positive position that we now have. I have made a referral to Pres. Bush on myspace that he should find a way to send the many American prisoners to take the place of our American forces over in harms way. American prisoners are americans too, we have the right to fight for our country just as must as that nonconvicted person does. Please consider my request. Tell Bill I love him, I think that he is a great man, and that he was a great President.

your town hall meeting was informative.
i have been a nurse for 30 years, i graduated with a BSN in 1976 and now hold a Ph.D.
over the years i have watched medical care and treatment change dramatically. my speciality was critical care so the inovations have been remarkable.
i agree with a universal healthcare plan, but unfortunately, the nurses and subsequently the patients that will loose out in the end. unless safeguards are put into place, the physicians and adminstrators will not give up thier income. in many hospitals the patients are being cared for by less qualified medical assistances placing RNs as responsible for the less qualified personal, placing the nurses licence on the line.
if you truely want to see what is it like for nurses, interveiw many over the country in all areas of the medical care and you will see how hard the work is, the high responsibility and the inapproprate pay.
in 1977 if i cardioverted (shocked) a patient who had a cardiac arrest the hospital charged the patient $25, but if the physician did the exact same thing, the charge was $75. now you can imagine how that has changed.
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THE NURSES, THE PEOPLE WHO REALLY KEEP THE PEOPLE ALIVE.

Are you going to remove PORK FUNDS FROM THE PENDING BILL RE: MILITARY FUNDING? This is wasteful spending that will increase our Federal Debt. If this is not removed YOU AND ALL SENATORS SHOULD VOTE NO ON THE BILL.

Obviously the blood of the Vietnamese “boat people” and the millions of Cambodians murdered by the Khmer Rouge wasn’t enough for the Democrats, so they’re seeking another American surrender and retreat with all the bloodshed which will follow. The only good thing to come from all this is that the Islamic radicals will follow the Americans home this time. How is that good? Because when they win here – thanks to the Democratic surrender monkeys – and Sharia becomes law Hillary and her ilk will be forevermore swathed in their burqas and we’ll be spared having to listen to that hectoring voice of hers and her silly ideas.

I watched Hillary this am for about as long as I could stomach — seems that she is willing to get into Healthcare too, but no talk about how she will pay for it.
Since the Geraldine Ferraro days; I have wanted to see and thought it would be good for the country to have a woman president. Hillary is just not that woman as far as I am concerned.
