Giuliani Defends Gingrich’s “Mistake”
ABC’s Jake Whitman Reports: Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani is defending Newt Gingrich, after the former House speaker admitted he was having an affair as he pursued President Clinton’s impeachment in the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
The Associated Press reports Giuliani told reporters in Reno on Saturday that the episode proves no one is perfect.
"I think the American people realize, and I’m speaking for myself now, we’ve made a lot of mistakes, and hopefully we’ve done some good things in our lives, and it’s probably always been that way," Giuliani said.
Giuliani has been married three times and has strained relations with his children.
"The American people have to judge who is the most effective leader. They will not find a perfect person, and that’s probably good because we all have imperfections. Sometimes when you go through things like that in your life, you can become a better person," he said.
Giuliani was in Nevada on Saturday for a $1,000-per-person fund-raiser. The event was expected to net more than $200,000 for the Giuliani campaign.

This is not a question of anyone being perfect. It is a question of personal hypocracy. The Repulicans made a big point of trumpeting moral superority during the impeachment. That Mr. Gingrich could argue such moral superority while engaging in similar behavior is a clear example of his character deficits. I believe that Mr. Gingrich’s hypocracy and Mr. Guiliani’s endorsement of same precludes them from passing the necessary character test to be President.

SHAME ON THESE SELF-RIGHTEOUS HYPOCRITS. A AGREE WE NEED TO HEAR A PUBLIC APOLOGY TO BILL CLINTON FOR THERE BEHAVIOR AND CERTAINLY NEWTS EFFORTS TO IMPEACH CLINTON. WHAT A COUPLE OF JERKS THESE ( AND MANY OTHER) REPUBLICANS ARE.

Dirik, you’re post was right on target, however your assumption is incorrect that the character of these two “leaders” should disqualify them from presidency.
It’s no myth that politicians are greedy, corrupt, immoral individuals, therefore, both of these idiots, with their huge character/moral flaws, are prefectly suited (sic) to be president.

My observation of men who cheat repeatedly is that they loudly criticize others who are caught cheating. Then when they get caught, they get all pitiful, admit they’ve done wrong and plead patience and sympathy, and say “nobody’s perfect”, and “everybody makes mistakes.” I’ve not really seen any shining examples of serial infidelity making someone better. They may survive their indescretions and be able to rise above them, but most just eventually get too old screw around anymore. I’d say Guiliani and Gingrich have both arrived at this latter point.
