NOW To Make “Major Announcement” Regarding ’08

ABC’S Jake Whitman Reports:  The political arm of the National Organization for Women will reportedly endorse Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid on Wednesday Morning.

A message posted on the NOW website says PAC Chair Kim Gandy and "a special guest will make a major announcement regarding the 2008 election."   The event is scheduled for 12:30pm et.

The Associated Press quotes Democratic officials as saying Gandy will be joined by Senator Clinton at Washington’s Sewell-Belmont House, the historic home of the National Women’s Party, to accept the group’s endorsement.

"The NOW PAC is excited to close out Women’s History Month with news that’s sure to energize women’s rights supporters across the country," Gandy said in an e-mail statement.

Clinton has made a deliberate pitch to women voters since launching her White House bid in January.

Founded in 1966 by activist Betty Friedan, NOW is one of the oldest and best-known feminist advocacy groups in the country.
