Biden Goes Head To Head

ABC’s Jake Whitman Reports:  Delaware Sen. Joe Biden is taking on his fellow Democrats over the war in Iraq.

Biden has launched a new website that matches his statements on the war to those of his opponents.

The Biden campaigned searched YouTube to create Headtohead08.com.  The Site uses actual clips of Biden’s opponents speaking about the war next to his own.

Headtohead08.com includes clips from Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama, Chris Dodd, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards and Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich.

"It is important for voters to start focusing on the distinctions between the candidates regarding how they would deal with the mess we inherit in Iraq," Biden told the Associated Press.

"During my recent travels to Iowa and South Carolina, it is obvious to me that the American people are looking to answer the question, ‘What next?"’ he said. "They know that every candidate wants to get us out of Iraq. What they don’t know is if we have a plan to do it without leaving a worse mess behind than we found."

Biden voted in 2002 to authorize military action in Iraq but has become a leading critic of the war since then.

He has advocated a plan to divide the country along ethnic lines, with a central government responsible for border security and allocation of oil resources.

Why does he think it is our business to “divide” up the country. This is up to the Iraqis, OMG, haven’t we done enough to them. This country was formed by the Brits years ago, and see how well it worked out then!

those who voted for war, based on Bush’s lies or their sense of political survival have already indicated that they exercise poor judgement. Many of us were against the war from the beginning and before, many of us watched international news and knew the yellow cake story was bogus in 2002, a long time before Bush and Powell’s infamous speeches. Many of us suspected the high probability of Iraq splintering along sectarian lines and the bloodshed. Many of us have cried from the beginning about the potential for impending slaughter, rapes, murders and torture. Be it Biden or Kerry or Clinton or , they all have indicated their weakness in bending to the will of the mob, in disregarding facts and in trying to ride the tide of public sentiment. but …peek a boo–we see you and if we can say nothing else, we can assert that none of the above have demonstrated the skill or acumen to be our leader–but they have shown they can spin and lie with the rest of them. The war was/is illegal. It started that way, it remains that way. And granting immunity to Bush for war crimes and abuses of power–only point out that the rest of Congress KNEW it was illegal also.

For those against the Biden plan because it “divides” Iraq I would ask one question: does anyone believe that the Kurds in the north will not have a semi autonomous region no matter what happens?
All these people against dividing geographically should realize that we are already 1/3 of the way there!
Biden’s is the most rational, if not only, real plan I’ve heard. The vast majority of the country wants out, but we should at least TRY to minimize the damage of doing so.

I think it is a good idea for people to get an idea of the differences, since we can hear them at the debates as well it would be good to have a written blurb as well — you can tell I usually access this where watching a video is not the easiest to do.

Biden is the only candidate for President with a plan to avert the chaos of a massive bloody civil war after we depart. The civil war we are witnessing now is peanuts compared to what will come after we leave. If we don’t give the warring factions their own fiefdom with an appropriate slice of oil revenues it is guaranteed the civil war will explode.
The Arab culture has no tradition of “live and let live”. Revenge and assassination are their time honored tools for settling political competition. Biden’s premise is correct. It is foolish to expect the Sunnis, Shites and Kurds to share power and live together peaceably.
