DNC Raps Romney for Downplaying Value of Catching Bin Laden
ABC News’ Teddy Davis Reports: The Democratic National Committee has issued a statement criticizing former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass., for seeming to downplay the value of catching Osama Bin Laden by telling the Associated Press in a Thursday interview that "it’s not worth moving heaven and earth (and) spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person."
Romney told the AP that he supports a broader strategy to defeat the Islamic jihad movement.
"It seems Mitt Romney and his Republican cohorts need to be reminded that Osama Bin Laden was the mastermind behind the September 11th attack on America," said DNC Communications Director Karen Finney.
Romney spokesman Kevin Madden explained Romney’s comment by telling ABC News that the former Massachusetts governor believes — and has stated "time and time again — that in order to "confront these threats we have to focus on the larger problem of the global jihad and break down entire regional global terror networks of al-Qaeda and others."
He then took a swipe at the DNC based on Thursday’s Democratic debate in South Carolina.
"The DNC’s efforts on this issue are pretty weak," said Madden. "Their entire roster of presidential candidates spent 90 minutes last night grappling over which of them would look the best waving a white flag of surrender to the terrorists we’re fighting in Iraq."

Obama Backs Off Birth Control Battle?
It’s not worth going after one man? Even if that “one man” is responsible for the 3,000 people who died on 9/11?

If you read Romney’s speech you will see this is information is taken out of context. He even states in his speech to listen carefully. This means either the writer didn’t listen carefully or has a political agenda of his or her own.
Romney is neither naive nor confused as stated by McCain or lacks memory as stated by Finney. Romney has the courage to say it like it is.
In the book “The One Percent Doctrine” written by Ron Suskind he brings forward the evidences and details of the post 9/11 decisions. One important factor is bin Laden’s ability to organize and coordinate future attacks has been all but diminished. Yes bin Laden should be hunted down and brought to justice.
However, in evaluating our nations security and safety when appropriating “Billions of Dollars” there are more important places to allocate this money then on one man who has little to no current ability to provide a threat.
We need to spend the money on the current organizations and terrorists who are planning the next attack.
I recommend everyone to read Romney’s speech. He DOESN’T say-don’t go after bin Laden, he states a priority in spending defense dollars to keep America safe. Put the money on the broader problem.
I believe if this approach were used in the beginning we wouldn’t be in Iraq now.

I have been reading up on Romney myself lately and he is the type of guy who might ACTUALLY find Osama and spend less to do it.
I think the president must be more than a technocrat, but if anyone has the trait of competence, its Romney. I am going to be watching him.
