Huckabee Calls Iraq Timetables ‘Absurd’
ABC News’ Brandon Odoi Reports: On a conference with reporters from his home in Little Rock, former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., spoke out aggressively Thursday against the use of timetables in Iraq, saying that the United States should do "whatever it takes" to win.
"The quickest way to get out of Iraq is to win," said Huckabee, adding that any timetable strategy is "absurd." Huckabee thinks the United States ought to have a goal of concluding the war but not specifying exactly when.
"When you do that," said Huckabee, "all you do to your opponent is say that they’re going to win and all [they] have to do is stay on the field and in the game."
In the past, the former Arkansas governor had been reluctant to make suggestions about Iraq policy by noting that he did not have access to all the security information and other classified documents that a president has access to. He also has been slow to offer criticism for President Bush, telling ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos in a February This Week interview that the "surge" of military troops should be given time to work.
Huckabee offered his comments about Iraq on a conference call to announce that former Gov. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., will chair Huckabee’s national steering committee. Rounds, who formed a solid bond with Huckabee during their time working together through the National Governor’s Association, will be charged with coordinating policy, politics, and fundraising for the campaign.

The only thing “absurd” here is the fact that some Republicans like Huckabee still insist that whatever that mess is in Iraq (they want to call it war)is winable. Thats like saying the Titanic was unsinkable. Why can’t they just admit that their “illustrious” leader made a mistake and correct that mistake by getting out and give the Iraqui people their lives back?

Yes, whatever it takes to win… EXCEPT a draft, repealing the tax Bush tax cuts to pay for the war, investigating the Iraqi Finance Minister, separating the religious groups or any true diplomatic effort.
I do not heart Huckabee.

What he said:
“When you do that, all you do to your opponent is say that they’re going to win and all [they] have to do is stay on the field and in the game.”
What he should have said:
When you do that, you remove the foreign devil team, put in the home team, and tell your opponent if (they) want to make a mess of their region, go right ahead. But we’re outta here.

Huh? Did you say “lives back”? That’s not a life. We broke the dang thing now we have to fix it. The surge is working and people are beginning to “get it” over there. Imagine the second largest oil supply (Iraq) out of control and then into the control of the Iranians. They want it pretty bad. I’m a Vet myself and I say we see this thing through. It’s all or nothing. We must and will win this war.
Middle East out of control = WWIII

Are you saying that the entire Iraq invasion and all the military action is because of oil? I wonder how many of the young men and woman called to action would have knowingly put their lives on the line for oil.

Yes, of course, that’s what it’s all about — oil. And more of our young men and women have died defending the oil corridor (look at your atlas) than were killed in the Twin Towers. Not to mention over 600,000 innocents, + a few bad guys, in the Middle East. We must win??? Please define “win.” All I see is loss, loss, loss.
