Trippi Joins Edwards
ABC News’ Raelyn Johnson Reports: Net guru and Dean campaign alum Joe Trippi has officially joined John Edwards’ campaign for president.
Trippi announced the news Thursday in — what else — a post to his blog reading: "A few weeks ago, John and Elizabeth Edwards made their decision to continue, not just John Edwards’ campaign for President, but their work together to make a difference for their country. And that made me realize that I wasn’t done trying to make a difference either. Not by a long shot."
Trippi acknowledged that he thought the 2004 campaign would be his last but says — citing Iraq, poverty and global warming — there’s too much at stake to sit out 2008. He joins the campaign as a senior advisor and it’s unknown whether he will dabble in the campaign’s Internet strategy.
After the 2004 election, Trippi became a political commentator and continued consultant work. Undoubtedly, the Edwards camp is pleased with his decision to exclusively ‘consult’ for them.
Says Deputy Campaign Manger John Prince: "Joe is a true believer who has never been the kind of guy who sits around and waits for somebody else to bring about the change he believes we need. And that’s what our campaign is about. That’s the challenge John and Elizabeth have laid before all of us. I’m glad Joe Trippi is one of those who’s ready to take it up."
