Bush Honors Fallen and “Freedom’s Cause”
ABCNews’ Lauren Sher and Suhas Subramanyam Report: In his radio address this morning, President Bush honored the troops who have died in the line of fire.
"As we pay tribute to the brave men and women who died for our freedom, we also honor those who are defending our liberties around the world today," Bush said.
The President praised soldiers who are protecting freedom and fighting extremists in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also revisited the theme of democracy-building in the Middle East.
"In Iraq and Afghanistan, millions have shown their desire to be free," Bush said. "Our troops are helping them build democracies that respect the rights of their people, uphold the rule of law, and fight extremists alongside America in the war on terror."
Bush also expressed optimism about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"With the valor and determination of our men and women in uniform, I am confident that we will succeed and leave a world that is safer and more peaceful for our children and grandchildren," Bush said.
"On Memorial Day, we rededicate ourselves to freedom’s cause."
The President is scheduled to visit Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day.

“…and leave a world that is safer and more peaceful for our children and grandchildren.”
By “our” of course, he meant his and Laura’s children/grandchildren.

If he would really honor them, give them a timetable to know WHEN they will be coming home otherwise all they can see is losing 100+ buddies a month (plus hundreds wounded) with NO END IN SIGHT.
The solution for Iraq is this: divide the land, divide the oil and get OUR sons and daughters home.
America wants its troops home so that she can honor them as they truly deserve.

I am 22 years old and losing friends left and right. How can he know what fallen or freedom’s cause are? The soldiers are missing growing up with their families and friends but Bush has no problem having them grow up participating in a war that he feels is necessary. Its fine to want something but when you put other lives at risk for your own gain, that’s called murder. I just think it’s ridiculous how he even dares to discuss how he wants to honor the fallen and for “freedom’s cause”. Those are OUR husbands, wives, and children. They are OUR families. Once he loses someone he loves dearly in the war, he doesn’t know the meaning of “fallen”.

As a troop with 24 months in Iraq, I can say the only way to support us is to support the mission we volunteered for. This is 2007. There are no draftees. And the majority of troops there today enlisted AFTER we invaded Iraq.
