Huckabee Paints Giuliani as ‘Illogical’ and ‘Bizarre’ on Abortion

ABC News’ Teddy Davis Reports: People who tune into C-SPAN’s "Road to the White House" Sunday will hear Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee take a thinly veiled swipe at Rudy Giuliani’s abortion position at a recent New Hampshire house party.

". . . It’s illogical to say . . . ‘I hate it, it’s immoral, but it’s okay if someone else does it,’" said Huckabee. "That’s bizarre."

Huckabee, who opposes abortion rights and is a former president of the Arkansas Baptist Convention, made his pointed comments without ever mentioning Giuliani by name while attending a Sunday house party in Manchester, N.H. The event was hosted by Cliff Hurst, Huckabee’s New Hampshire co-chair.

Despite early polling which shows Giuliani leading his GOP rivals in the race for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, some Republican analysts think it will be difficult for Giuliani to hold onto his lead once Republican primary voters focus on his support for abortion rights. Other Republican analysts think the man who led New York through the terrorist attacks of 9/11 holds enormous appeal for Republicans who are looking for a candidate who will keep the United States "on the offense" in the war on terror.

Huckabee’s house party is slated to run Sunday on C-SPAN’s "Road to the White House" at 6:30/9:30 pm ET. Video of Huckabee’s remarks will also be available Friday on campaignnetwork.org.
