Richardson Launches ‘Job Interview’ TV Ads

ABC News’ Sarah Amos Reports: Gov. Bill Richardson’s, D-N.M. ’08 presidential campaign is unveiling two new campaign ads this week, and both take a more humorous look at the Governor’s public record.

"We wanted to do something original in a Presidential campaign – and that was to use humor to communicate Governor Richardson’s vast record of achievement in public service, foreign affairs and as Governor of New Mexico," said campaign manager Dave Contarino.

The first ad features the Richardson in a job interview setting, with a very skeptical interviewer. The second ad focuses more on Richardson’s achievements as Governor of New Mexico.

The ads, produced by Steve Murphy and Mark Putnam of Murphy Putnam Media will run on most broadcast affiliates and cable platforms.

This is not the first time Richardson, known for his relaxed personality, as used humor in his ads. His 2006 campaign used a series of ads based on old Spaghetti Western films.

"Governor Richardson is truly unique in this race, both in terms of his extensive record of accomplishment and his personality. He’s not a typical candidate for President and these are not typical ads," said Contarino.

Richardson is still heavily trailing ’08 presidential rivals Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards D-N.C., in most Iowa polls.
