Giuliani, Huckabee Would Allow Foreign-Born to Run for Prez

ABC News’ Teddy Davis and Tahman Bradley Report: Two Republican presidential candidates — former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., — indicated during Thursday’s presidential debate that they would favor changing the U.S. Constitution to allow Americans who were not born in the United States to run for president.

The other eight Republican presidential candidates indicated that they would oppose such a change.

The question was asked in the presence of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Austrian-born governor of California, who is barred from a White House run by the Constitution’s current barrier to foreign-born citizens becoming president.

Huckabee scored one of the best laugh lines of the evening when he said he would only make the change after he completed two terms in the Oval Office.

"After I’ve served eight years as president, I’d be happy to change the Constitution," he said.

With a hefty smile, Sen. John McCain R-Ariz., completely dodged the question. "It depends on whether (Schwarzenegger) endorses me or not," the senator joked.

I don’t think this is funny.
