Gillespie to Replace Bartlett

ABC’s Ann Compton reports: President Bush will announce today that Ed Gillespie is taking over the role of Counselor to the President.  This role was vacated by Dan Bartlett earlier this month, when he announced that after 6 years in the White house he would be leaving to spend more tme with his family.

Gillespie was the chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2003-2005.  Many will remember that he was a spokesman for the Bush campaign during the recount in Florida in 2000.

Ed Gillespie is as tight as a tick with White House staffers but never actually worked here.  He has instead used his influence on behalf of the President running one of Washington’s top lobbying firms which bears his name.
