Biden’s War on Terror Strategy
ABC News’ Brian P. Wheeler reports: Presidential candidate Joe Biden released a multi-facetted strategy to win “America’s most important mission: defeating Al Qaeda and the terrorist threat.”
Biden unveiled his plan at a media briefing in Davenport, Iowa, where he is also campaigning.
The release of the Senator’s strategy comes just days after the National Intelligence Estimate released intelligence suggesting that Al Qaeda has regenerated its capability and that the terrorist organization remains determined to attack the United States.
Biden, who also chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has been vocal about his opposition to the war in Iraq. However he voted in favor of legislation that pays for the Iraq war but lacks a timeline for troop withdrawal in May, saying at the time that the measure was flawed, but adding "As long as we have troops on the front lines, it is our shared responsibility to give them the equipment and protection they need."
Biden’s new strategy seeks to refocus resources, energy and power in the Middle East.
His ten pronged approach include steps to force Pakistan to deal with the presence of Al Qaeda on its border with Afghanistan and implement the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission.
