Clinton to Bush: ‘Why Don’t You Leave Office Early’
ABC News’ Teddy Davis and Leigh Hartman Report: Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., ripped President Bush Thursday for casting efforts to expand of the state children’s health insurance program as "government-run health care."
"The president just called what we are trying to do ‘socialized medicine,’" Clinton told the NAACP. "Well I have news for President Bush, ‘if you think that insuring children is somehow un-American, then why don’t you leave office early and leave us the opportunity to do what we should do to take care of the children of the United States of America."
Clinton made her remarks while participating in a Democratic presidential candidates forum in Detroit sponsored by the NAACP.
Watch the video HERE.
While President Bush did not use the term "socialized medicine" during recent remarks on health care, the Clinton campaign is pointing to the president’s June 27 comments in which he criticizes Democrats for wanting to take "incremental steps" down the path to "government-run health care."
"At the same time that they try to expand S-CHIP to older citizens," said President Bush, "they are trying to expand Medicare to younger citizens. Their goal is to take incremental steps down the path to government-run health care for every American."
Clinton, who failed in her 1993-94 effort to bring universal health-care coverage to the U.S., played an important role in getting the children’s health insurance program enacted during her husband’s second term. The program, which is administered by the states, provides privately delivered health care to children of parents who are too rich to qualify for Medicaid but too poor to afford private insurance on their own.

I second this comment, if President Bush would leave office early, I bet even the rebels fighting in the hills, would call a cease fire and there would be peace all over the world for at least a day in celebration, and President Bush could take a permenant breather and chop wood into infinity.

Clinton would just love that. But it isn’t going to happen Hillary. Their were ample reasons for your husband to leave early and he stayed. Bush will stay and you can leave early if you like.

Well stated VAL. Hillary is attacking Bush whilst forgetting the past. It suits her to forget, but the people do remember Bill and his days in the Oval Office. Bush is a fine President in difficult times.

We are fighting an illeagal war that has cost the US taxpayer 3 trillon dollars for the benefit of the oil companies. We are going to leave troops in Iraq to secure those interests even after the troop withdrawl. This is wrong on so many levels. The planet is disintegrating around us and corporate thugs pump up their propoganda machines. Enough! The Republic is at stake.

Here is the bottom line, Hillary is just being Hilary, (God help us if she becomes President) and Bush is just being Bush. He isn’t going anywhere, just like Hilary’s husband wouldn’t go either.
This is the United States of America!
Land of the Free, Home of the Brave!
I am a Democrat, but do not always feel they are right…just like Republicans, are not always right. When will the time come where people stop the idea of being right or wrong but instead, be open and willing to face the fact that we all are different and all are entitled to our own opinons. Until that day, no one has a right to say anything regarding Right vs. Wrong. The real truth is just this:
Lead with your mind and follow with your heart. Mindless and heartless people never get anywhere in this wonderful world of ours.

One message for you Bush-supporting dead-enders – your time has past. The whole country knows that Bush is a sham. Everything he says is either wrong or a complete lie. He’s an inept, dogmatic fool presiding over an administration of criminals. Someday I hope you gain just a mustard seed of vision and wisdom, and realize just how shameful and unpatriotic your pro-Bush rants are. The 71% of us who realize what a total disaster Bush has been for our great country say: SHAME ON YOU.

My main gripe with Bush is that he didn’t do squat with Health Care for 6 years already, but then again to be fair, Clinton didn’t do anything in 8 years. Wow, 14 years of nothing and 45 million uninsured. 9 million children uninsured. Now there’s your shame!

Yea thats a great remark but thats the kind of remark the Neo-Cons need to keep the White House. The Bushss and Clintons never made any real changes. This 2 party charade has got to end. We need someone with morals thats courage and has integrity. Google Ron Paul, hope for America.

Right on Hillary! I cannot believe that so many people still back this scheming, treasonous administration. Are you getting kickbacks from these thugs? 911 was caused by bin Laden’s group but this administration lied and said it was Saddam. Bush had received advance notice but blew it off. Bush fixed the information he fed us and Congress, wrecked Colin Powell’s reputation and ignored Congress’s plea to give the inspectors more time in Iraq. After more than 3500 young Americans have lost their lifes he continues to stonewall and will not accept responsibility for his action. Can any of you tell me what he has told the truth about? There can be only two reasons that you still support him, you are getting rich off of his actions or you enjoy being fleeced of your money, dignity and constitional rights. This is the most secretive, cutthroat, murderous administration this country has ever had. One more thing, all of you Bush supporters like to claim that the media is controlled by the liberals, if that is the case why hasn’t there been any stories in any publications of any sort on the Bush twins? When was the last time that you saw the children of the First Family receive this much freedom? Now, why do you think that is? Come on, get smart!!!

Dee: a. She’s only “senator” Clinton.
b. She hasn’t been elected yet.
Question: When Bill got elected, He and She were known as “Billary”. If She gets elected will they be known as “Hillbilly” ??

Kottaras-Actually I don’t feel good about being part of the 80% of Americans who disapprove of their President. As an American who loves my country, I wish my commander-in-chief only has a small fraction of people that disagrees with him.
The only comfort I have is that we live in a country where the citizens are able to choose their leaders, and tyranny is not the norm.
The current Pro-Bush crowd baffles me. You remind me of a battered foster child that still cries for his abusive alcoholic pedophile father at night. No matter what he says and does, you give him the adoration of a starry-eyed preteen idolizing Paris Hilton.
I voted confidently for Bush in 2000 based on his campaign platform. However, as a citizen who takes my voting ability seriously have looked at the issues and do not approve of them. I am trying to understand what the last 20% of Americans actually approve. Is it his foreign policy (civil war Iraq), his domestic spending (debt..debt..debt), healthcare (ummm none), immigration reform (tall shiny fences), tax breaks (well at least for the rich), morality(alcoholic daughters), or loyalty (convicted felon Libby or EX World Bank president Wolfowitz). I would truly like to understand.
Wait I got it! National Security! Since he has been in office we have not have another terrorist attack! Wow! It must be his policies, but than again Canada has not been hit. I guess Bush gets the credit for that too.

Anyone who believes that if we just play nice then the world will love is has a disconnect with reality.
While we have been at war with radical Islam for about 5 years, they have been at war with us for decades.
They don’t want us to play nice, they want us to die.
If we don’t take the battle to them, they will bring it to us … again.
Thank God for a president who understands what is at stake.
Thanks God for our heroes in the US military who volunteer to defend the rest of us.
May God protect us for the fools who would sacrifice our country for polical expediency.

Kottaras:
I should definitely say that George W. Bush would have a greater reason for leaving office early than would Clinton. The lives that have been lost in Iraq and Afghanistan are reasons enough, not to mention that the standing of the United States of America has gone to hell on his watch.

It would be very nice if those who are so sure that America is disliked because — well, we are disliked — knew the history of the west and it’s invasions into parts of the world that they had no business invading. I am not for warmongering from either side, but surely, we should not be surprised that people that are invaded, suddenly seek to invade. I guess you reap what you sow doesn’t resonate when the shoe is on the other foot. It’s not a matter of making nice with anybody, but since this is a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black, how about diplomacy. We should all drop our weapons!
Posted by: Ginny Albert | July 14, 2007, 11:45 am 11:45 am
oh good. Now that lefties like Ginny above have called for everyone to drop their weapons, radical islamic terrorists will all drop their weapons and intentions on killing all infidels. They’ll be planting daisies and sending us balloon bouqets.

Americas leader is disliked not the American people as a whole. Its just a reflection from the Bush image that is view throughout the world. When Bush leaves office, our golden image will return.

Hillary sez the federal govt should take care of our children? Makes sense. Democrats act like children. Having kids and doing drugs. They need an adult to tell them what to do.
Maybe democrats can get the Federal govt to buy us all car insurance next. Or how about free food? I mean why stop with health insurance?

I love it when libs whine about what the world thinks of America. Does France or Germany worry about what the world thinks of them? They sure didn’t while they were selling weapons to Sadaam. You do know that France built Iraq’s nuclear plant?
Posted by: smart guy | July 16, 2007, 11:48 am 11:48 am
everyone sells weapons (and worse) to nasty people. Starting with us. We make and sell the most weapons, and saddam was our bosom buddy until pretty recently. Even without talking about foreign policy at all, doesn’t it bother anyone what has happened to our jobs and our industries and our educational system and our healthcare and our economy in the last 7 years??? Doesn’t anyone wonder why it corresponds to a presidential term where the president doesn’t see fit to consider his constituents well-being when he makes decision? geez. i guess the country is getting what it deserves if no one can make that connection and feel like they should do something about it.
