Poverty Podcast
I admit — I was intrigued by the poverty tour (LINK) of former Sen. John Edwards, D-NC. I grew up half a block from a housing project in Philly, so it’s not entirely a foreign concept for me.
So I invited him on the podcast — and he accepted.

90% of the interview is about poverty in America, so don’t click on it to hear a general interview. Enjoy.

Obama Backs Off Birth Control Battle?
This guy is as phony as a three dollar and he’s not very smart.
If he can name a single country where government intervention into the economy helped people I’d give him a chance but all he does is push his socialist, feel good, populist case without talking about the specifics of his “plan.”

Things are only going to get worse, milk is $3.58 a gal!
We can look forward to rampant inflation and we are in debt with this war! It’s like the 70′s all over again. $500 billion dollar has been spent to help people that hate us, so we can always take comfort in that, but it’s hard to feed your family on it!

The reason milk and Gas and other items is so high is because of all the regulations that are put on us by the left liberal socialists.
The deficit is lower then ever, more money is coming into the government then in histroy, the lowest un-employment ever so where are we like the 70′s. See if Edwards wins then we will be worse then the 70′s Carter era.
My question though how much money did Edwards steal form those poor people.

It seems that Sen. Edwards is emulating Robert F. Kennedy’s crusade against poverty. Even though Sen. Kennedy was from a wealthy family, I distinctly recall more sincerity on Sen. Kennedy’s part than I sense now from Sen. Edwards. I guess I may be more cynical, or just not a fan of $400 haircuts.

chuck – maybe it’s because the Kennedys weren’t litigation attorneys before they went into politics…
jt – which project? and by the way congrats; I read about your soon-to-be daughter in an article about Charlie in the Inquirer

chuck – Edward Kennedy should be in jail for murder period, even John Edwards is not as bad as him.
They do not care about the poor or minorities, they care about power, period.
Note – The Kennedy’s made their money during prohibition, when their father would bring liquor from Canada. just a little history.

Phillygirl64, thank you for your insight–that’s the reason! I just didn’t put two and two together!
And, spock, not only did Joseph Kennedy Sr. run liquor during Prohibition, he also had a torrid affair with Gloria Swanson. What of it?

spock – I am well aware of the Kennedy family story…I didn’t say they were saints, just not litigation attorneys
jake – wow; I thought you might have been a suburban kid…my father worked for the city, so we had to stay in the city limits, but we moved from Olney to the Far NE when I was almost 8

It’s not that interesting, but just so I dont get accused of fudging the facts, I was born in Staten Island, NY, then my parents moved to Queen Village when I was 3 months old. They split in the mid-70s and my Dad moved to Merion when he remarried in 1979. My parents had joint custody, so from then on my brother and I split our time between Philly (Mom still lives in the same house) and the Main Line. But essentially I consider myself to be from Philly. I know, I know…Yawn. But there it is.
