Obama Stays in Washington for Iraq Votes

ABC News’ Jonathan Greenberger reports: The people’s business is today preventing Sen. Barack Obama from meeting the people.

Obama had been planning to attend an early afternoon town hall forum in Rock Hill, SC, but he will instead stay in Washington to cast votes on the Democrats’ various proposals to end the war.

The postponement leaves a town disappointed.

Two days ago, the local newspaper, the Rock Hill Herald, headlined an article previewing the event, "Democrats Giddy Over Obama Visit."

Today, the paper carried news of the postponement under the more sober headline, "Obama Cancels Rock Hill Visit."

Obama was to have been the first of the Democratic frontrunners to visit Rock Hill, a community of approximately 60,000 located just across the North Carolina border from Charlotte.  The Rock Hill herald reports 1,600 tickets had been given away for today’s Obama event.

In a short release, the campaign said a new date for the rescheduled town hall has not yet been set.

If Obama stayed in DC for Senate votes today, then why did he NOT VOTE on the Petraeus resolution?
Was this another courageous abstention, like his NON-votes on abortion legislation in the Illinois state senate?

WHAT! CAN YOU NOT READ? This article reads “for Iraq Votes” not “senate votes”. He didn’t vote in the Petraeus “game” bacause it was pointless and a waste of time. He wants to be productive and not play games. Will the senate now vote on all postings on the web? Someone’s killing cats in a small town in Texas, i guess they’ll need to write a resolution and vote on that tomorrow.
