ABC News’ Dean Norland Reports:  Apologizing for remarks he made during last Thursday’s House debate leading up to the veto override attempt of the SCHIP bill, California Democrat Pete Stark said he hoped to "return to the issues that do divide us, but that we can resolve in a better fashion."

According to the Congressional Record among the comments Stark made on October 18 was this statement, "President Bush’s statements about children’s health shouldn’t be taken any more seriously than his lies about the war in Iraq.  The truth is that Bush just likes to blow up things in Iraq, in the United State and in Congress."

Today, a contrite Stark apologized "to my colleagues, many of whom I have offended, to the president and his family" and to the American troops.
